Exceeded Expectations - Highly Recommended

My family (2 adults, 2 girls age 5 and 9) stayed at Cro Bique for 1 week in late June 2015 and found it to be an exceptional home away from home. We absolutely loved staying there and hope to return in the future. The owners Gabriella and Ofer are very friendly and helpful, it is situated just a short walk into town but also in a relaxing farm-like setting, it is spacious and well organized and equipped and has comfortable beds. These comments are consistent with those already posted here. Here’s a bit more about our specific experience and how Cro Bique exceeded our expectations.

The week that we stayed was extremely hot. There were 3 days in which the temperatures rose about 100 degree F and we were concerned that this was going to be an issue. Despite the heat, the house stayed cool, thanks to the shutters that kept the sun and the heat out during the day and the fans in each room. Gabriella and Ofer recommended places to swim and they were spot on. The kids had a great time swimming in the Dordogne during the hottest days. The deck at the front of the house was one of our favorite features. After about 4pm each day (June) the deck was in the shade, which allowed us to eat out dinners outside and relax in comfort, away from the sun.

We cooked all of our own meals during the week. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking a wide range of meals, from roasted chicken to pasta, to duck legs and sausages from the butcher. In addition, there is a barbeque outside that we used during the hottest 3 days. It worked great and (after 4pm) was also situated in the shade, making for a lovely time outside with the family.

The kids loved the area. They could walk up the hill behind the house to explore the gardens or walk down in front of the house to the hay fields that were cut and bundled during our stay. They loved having the freedom to roam around and my wife and I liked that we could easily see them from the deck wherever they went.

Finally, we found Beynac to be a great place to stay. One feature that you won’t find in the guidebooks is that the ‘area of commerce’ that is about a 15 minute walk (4 minute drive) from Cro Bique has a bakery, a butcher, and a small grocery shop that we found to be exceptional. The pastries we had at the bakery were the best we had in France and the meat we got from the butcher was also the best we had in France.

It was our favorite week of a long trip and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful rural setting

My sister, her husband, my mum and myself had the pleasure of staying at Cro Bique for seven night in April 2013. After arriving by car from Bordeaux, we were greeted by Gabriella and Ofer. On showing us around the house, I noticed the bedrooms had been configured for two couples. I advised the owners we actually required 1 double and 2 singles. Instantly, Gabriella was at work making up one of the beds in the third bedroom.

The kitchen downstairs was already stocked with the basics- bread,milk,sugar,eggs,butter- and also a bottle of red wine-a very nice gesture. We fully expected to buy everything we would need.

The house was perfect for our week's stay.It is in a great location within walking distance of the little town, the castle and the Dordogne River. One of the bedrooms has a great view across to neighbouring farms whilst another has a view to the castle through the woods. it is a great base for a motoring holiday in the Dordogne.

The house is beautifully furnished and kept in immaculate condition. The kitchen is very well equipped. There was plenty of space to hang or store clothing. The bedrooms were big enough to store all our luggage without crowding ( we were on a ten week holiday in Europe, hence we had a lot of luggage). There was always hot water for our showers and laundry.

It would have been nice to have used the front verandah a little more, but, alas the weather was not the warmest during our stay. On the one afternoon we did manage to have a few drinks and nibbles outside, it was very pleasant to look out over the surrounding landscape.

The house that became our sweet home for 9 days

We had a beautiful holiday in the Dordogne and this wonderful house was a part of it.

Gabriela and Ofer were helpful and reacted fast to our requests and needs.

We would go there again, maybe next year and recomend it to our friends.

Excellently Equipped House with lovely deck and view in ideally located pastoral setting

There are numerous aspects to this rental to recommend it. The house is located just outside the small and lovely town of Beynac in what may be the most concentrated area of Dordogne for special towns and castles. It is within a moderate, pleasant walk of the village center down a near-private lane (1/2 km) and a rural road (1/2 km). We chose to walk into town half the days we stayed at Cro Bique. The house's location has the virtue of easy accessibility to town while having the feel and look of the country. Perhaps the property's most prized aspect for us was the large deck at the front of the house where we took our meals, early breakfasts and late dinners, watching the sun set at 10 if we did not choose to take the 4 min. drive up to the castle where a charming restaurant remained open late. The deck looks out over a lovely expanse of fields and farmsteads on a road that leads up to Beynac Castle, a view that is accompanied by a wonderfully relaxing silence except for an occasional sound of a farm animal or dog's bark. There is a covered space for an automobile. The pictures of the setting and view do not do justice to either. The inside of the house is charming, clean and well-kept with a very functional and well-equipped kitchen, all you need to cook and eat in perfect condition; a stereo and a cable television with 5 or so English and American channels, very comfortable places to sit. The upstairs is cozy, with two bedrooms with very comfortable double or queen beds with comforters and extra blankets and a third bedroom with twin beds. In short, everything one might need has been thought of. A view of Beynac castle out of the master bedroom window. Also a washing machine in the upstairs bathroom. Finally the owners, Ofer and Gabriella, and the attention and considerations they provide are very special. They proved very helpful at every step of the rental. We found the kitchen thoughtfully stocked with quite a number and variety of foods that, among other things, negated the need to purchase many of the basic items needed for cooking as well as an initial array of first-day items-- wine, baguette, eggs, milk, and cookies. Their attentiveness manifested itself also in their keeping in touch with us by e-mail when our cell-phone proved unworkable, and we were always at our ease knowing if we had some problem they could be counted on to help solve it. In all ways, we recommend Cro Bique extremely highly and without any reservations.

Very nice home for a vacation stay in a beautiful setting in the Dordogne River valley

We spent a week at this home in early-May 2012. What a comfortable home in a beautiful setting! Located just outside of the village of Beynac, this home is in a very quiet location that allows you to get away from the busier parts of Beynac yet is a reasonable walk to the village. The view from the master bedroom is of Chateau Beynac (wow!). The front deck is a great spot to relax, eat breakfast or dinner and look over a tranquil country scene of several small farms. Each evening, we enjoyed a glass of wine from the deck and watched the hot air balloons float over the valley.

Beynac is a very good base from which to explore the Dordogne. Many of the sights we wanted to visit were within a short drive, making for nice day trips.

We received a wonderful welcome from the owners. One was on hand when we arrived and provided a very welcoming tour of the home. Most unexpectedly, the owners had stocked the kitchen with essentials for the next morning's breakfast (eggs, fresh bread, bacon, milk, juice, etc.). We have rented vacation homes in many places in the U.S., Canada and now Europe and have never received a warmer welcome.

The home is fully and accurately described in the VRBO listing. The home is exceptionally well maintained. We hope to make a return visit to the Dordogne Valley in the future for a longer stay and this property will be our first choice for our home away from home.

Delightful Dordogne Cottage

Wow! What a fantastic place! We had rainy, dreary weather during most of our week in the Dordogne and really enjoyed our cozy, yet spacious cottage. Eitan and Gabriella were perfect hosts and thought of everything. We were exhausted when we arrived after dealing with numerous summer traffic delays. We were so happy when our hosts explained all of the "goodies" that they had stocked the kitchen with for our arrival- eggs, fresh bread, milk, coffee, tea, cream, yogurt, cheese, meats, beer, wine, water, juice, butter, and more. It was such a nice surprise. There was also a good supply of paper towels, toilet paper, detergents, and cleaning supplies. They even had scented, French soaps for us! Beds were extremely comfortable and there were plenty of fluffy towels. The shower was great. The cottage is totally renovated with new furnishings. We enjoyed sitting out at the patio table and looking over the beautiful countryside. Cro Bique is in a very peaceful, convenient location. It's possible to walk to Beynac Castle, though the walk involves some fairly strenuous climbing. Alternative, the drive to the castle is less than five minutes. The closest grocery store is in St. Cyprien, about a 10 minute drive. You can get everything you need there. We enjoyed the restaurant on the river in Beynac, especially the duck. The canoe trip from Domme to Beynac is spectacular. We absolutely loved our week at Cro Bique and hope to return again sometime in the near future. Thank you Eitan and Gabriella for your wonderful hospitality and for making our week in the Dordogne so comfortable.

Holiday to Remember

Me and my 9 years old daughter lept on an opportunity of a short school's vacation to a one week visit to the Dordogne. Cro Bique was not available for the whole period, so the owners provided us with other near by hosting alternatives untill Cro Bique will be available for us.

On our arrival day (to another hosting resort) the owners contacted us and ask if everything is OK, I told them that I have had some navigation dificulties, however, I assume that I will get manage to find my way. At that time I was in Les eyzie. They told me to wait where I was and they came to show me the way to the alternative resort.

After two nights in the alternate resort the house was ready for us. The owners waited for us in an extremely clean house. It was a very welcoming and promising morning. All that was written in the description was accurate. Fully equipped property with everything you may think of. Everything that is needed to start a pleasant vacation's day has been waiting for us, starting from coffee and milk and ending in beautiful flowers in the vase.

This is for sure a resort that will be recommended to friends.

There are a lot of attractions nearby, I have editted presentations for a few of the days we stayed there (and I'm planning to complete them all shortly). I sent them to the owners, so other visitors will be able to have benefits from them (potential visitors may contact the owners for that purpose).
