Le Touquet (also known as Le Touquet-Paris-Plage), is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of northern France. The resort was created in 1876 by Hippolyte de Villemessant (1812–1879), founder and owner of the Paris newspaper, Le Figaro. In the 1920s, Noël Coward and the “smart set” from England spent weekends here, and commissioned outstanding villa designs echoing traditional and ultra-modern domestic styles. A desirable destination ever since, it was in the mid-1990s, Le Touquet’s villas became extremely fashionable amongst architecture lovers throughout Europe, rediscovering the “folie” of seaside architecture of both the Roaring Twenties and the Thirties.

Today when you rent a holiday home in Le Touquet the town tourist office offers organised trails to see the outstanding examples of 19th and 20th century domestic architecture, which are now preserved and protected.

The beach at Le Touquet is long, clean, and has lovely fine sand. This is a resort which offers sand yachting, sailing, riding, 3 golf courses, a thalassotherapy spa, the Aqualud water park and much else besides.   Its year round appeal means when you stay in self catering accommodation in Le Touquet you’ll find stylish boutiques, luxurious hotels and a good choice of restaurants and bars as well as discotheques, night clubs and, of course, the Casino. Every year in February, a motorbike and quad race called 'Enduro' is held where bikes race along the beach and through the dunes.

When you stay in a Le Touquet Holiday Home, don’t for get to visit the local market. It’s held in the partly-covered market hall, now a listed Historic Monument, on Saturday and Thursday mornings.

To get to your Le Touquet Holiday Accommodation: Le Touquet is easily reached via ferry from Dover to Calais which takes about 90 minutes (Sea France, P.O). Le Touquet is just 70 kilometres south of Calais. Flights to Le Touquet are available from Lydd Air who fly from Lydd airport near Ashford in Kent.  Alternatively if travelling to France via Eurotunnel then Le Touquet is an approximate 50 minute drive. You can also reach Le Touquet via train by travelling to Etaples station.

The Nord Pas de Calais region of France benefits from 1,600.3 sunshine hours a year. The climate is continental which gives it a pleasant sweetness throughout the year. There are never extreme temperatures in this French region.
