Excellently Equipped House with lovely deck and view in ideally located pastoral setting

There are numerous aspects to this rental to recommend it. The house is located just outside the small and lovely town of Beynac in what may be the most concentrated area of Dordogne for special towns and castles. It is within a moderate, pleasant walk of the village center down a near-private lane (1/2 km) and a rural road (1/2 km). We chose to walk into town half the days we stayed at Cro Bique. The house's location has the virtue of easy accessibility to town while having the feel and look of the country. Perhaps the property's most prized aspect for us was the large deck at the front of the house where we took our meals, early breakfasts and late dinners, watching the sun set at 10 if we did not choose to take the 4 min. drive up to the castle where a charming restaurant remained open late. The deck looks out over a lovely expanse of fields and farmsteads on a road that leads up to Beynac Castle, a view that is accompanied by a wonderfully relaxing silence except for an occasional sound of a farm animal or dog's bark. There is a covered space for an automobile. The pictures of the setting and view do not do justice to either. The inside of the house is charming, clean and well-kept with a very functional and well-equipped kitchen, all you need to cook and eat in perfect condition; a stereo and a cable television with 5 or so English and American channels, very comfortable places to sit. The upstairs is cozy, with two bedrooms with very comfortable double or queen beds with comforters and extra blankets and a third bedroom with twin beds. In short, everything one might need has been thought of. A view of Beynac castle out of the master bedroom window. Also a washing machine in the upstairs bathroom. Finally the owners, Ofer and Gabriella, and the attention and considerations they provide are very special. They proved very helpful at every step of the rental. We found the kitchen thoughtfully stocked with quite a number and variety of foods that, among other things, negated the need to purchase many of the basic items needed for cooking as well as an initial array of first-day items-- wine, baguette, eggs, milk, and cookies. Their attentiveness manifested itself also in their keeping in touch with us by e-mail when our cell-phone proved unworkable, and we were always at our ease knowing if we had some problem they could be counted on to help solve it. In all ways, we recommend Cro Bique extremely highly and without any reservations.
