Self Catering Brassac Holiday Cottages and Gites

Brassac is a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Midi-Pyrénées region in southern France. When you rent a Brassac Holiday Gite, you’ll note that the 40 mile long pretty Séoune River flows southwestward through the middle of the village.

Brassac’s most noted tourist attraction, which is also listed as an historic monument, is the château de Brassac. It is an imposing 12th century fortress to which alterations were made at various times up to the 16th century. In front of the present-day château there stands a mound from feudal times, the site of an earlier château and a village fortification still partly visible. Its walls are built out of the local and distinctive white Quercy stone. When you stay in a Brassac Holiday Home note that the Chateau is open to the public most afternoons in the season from about 2pm and in the peak season during the morning also.

Nearby Brassac tourism destinations that are worth a visit when you rent a holiday cottage in Brassac include the Ecomusée de Marquèze in Sabres (20 km). This is a 'living' museum with traditional 19th century landais farm buildings, found in the neighboring Aquitaine region. Forty kilometres away from Brassac is Temple-sur-Lot, this is a small village on the River Lot notable for its connection with the Knights Templar. However, 'Le Temple' is more famous for its association with Claude Monet.  Parc-en-Ciel at Villereal (43 km) translates to Park in the Sky and as the name suggests a lot of the activities are nearer the sky than they are the ground! Aqualand Water Park - Bassin D'Arcachon (45 km) may also appeal when you stay in self catering accommodation in Brassac.

Abbaye de Saint Maurin (Saint-Maurin) is a listed 'religious monument' at 6km and Eglise de Notre-Dame (Lacour) is a listed 'religious monument' at 9km away.

Like much of southwestern France, the summers tend to be warmer and the winters milder. Substantial summer rainfall prevents its climate from being classified as Mediterranean.
