Local Attractions
Relax and enjoy your holiday after your journey to the Dordogne with beautiful accommodation. “Home away from home”, giving you everything you need for a wonderful holiday - 2 sparkling pools - one private one in private gardens for the house and one shared one for the gites.
Beautiful grounds and an orchard of walnut and fruit trees, a table tennis table. Close to all the local amenities – a boulangerie, for your fresh croissants and bread just a 5 minute stroll; a wonderful restaurant, Table du Moustier, a short 5 minute walk - no more driving after you have arrived! Add to that, all our bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the beds are made, ready for your arrival.
If you want to be more active during your holiday, you can cycle, walk, swim, horse-ride, canoe, fish, or indulge your artistic side with painting and photography. Or, if history is your passion, visit the caves, chateaux, castles and grottes. Lascaux 4 in Montignac which opened in December 2016, and Grotte de Font Gaume in Les Eyzies, are both 10 minutes drive.
There are 8 different golf courses available in our area, most are within a one hour drive. The closest is Golf de la Marterie near Le Bugue.
Sarlat has one of the best French markets people have ever been to. Extremely popular with both tourists and locals alike. The Saturday market is the biggest (and the busiest) where the Wednesday market is smaller and tends to be mainly local produce.
Montignac has a wonderful street market twice a week and nearby Rouffignac has a splendid Sunday morning market where you will generally see the local farmers exhibiting their freshly picked vegetables. Plump ducklings, fresh Foie Gras, unbelievable selections of cheese local to the Dordogne and don’t forget the walnuts which are very important to the region.
Night markets are a different thing altogether. It is an occasion where you go to eat and drink the local food provided for you by the local producers of the area. A wonderful social occasion with music. Take your own plate, cutlery and glasses, and go early to get a space. The one in Saint Leon sur Vezere is extremely popular and not too far to drive.
