Stunning location and a wonderful cottage to stay in with great facilities. Welcoming owners. The area had a lot to offer apart from its beauty: quaint French towns and villages, good food and a very laid back approach to life...

Initial disappointment that the view from the patio was obscured by trees and that the village and restaurant really too far to walk for dinner, soon overtaken by realizing that this part of France is stunning and very uncrowded even in August. Everything in the cottage worked. Ideal for a relaxing, walking and reading holiday.

Lovely accommodation, very well equipped everything you need. The road is long and winding to get to it, but good view on the way. The trees were in full leaf when we were there and so the view from the Gite not so good, but sensational when you walk a little bit.. Good base to explore from.

Set in a tranquil hamlet Le Cantou was an excellent holiday base. The cottage was spotless and beautifully renovated to retain its character. Everything was provided including a welcome bottle of wine. Brian and Sarah included helpful advice about places to visit and restaurants so we were spoilt for choice. The scenery is beautiful with atmospheric towns and villages to explore – particular favourites were Conques and la Vinzelle – absolutely stunning. We can certainly recommend Le Cantou.

The owners have done their utmost to ensure a comfortable stay and are extremely helpful with local advice and recommendations. The views are stunning and the quiet location ensures a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. Evening drinks on the terrace listening to the birds and watching the scenery are some of our great memories. The area is surely one of the most beautiful and varied in France and I would warmly recommend this, and the adjoining gite, for a great and charming stay.

Can't fault the gite. The trees obscuring some of the view were a bit of a drawback, the entrance from the road is a bit hairy especially in the dark and the advertised 2 minutes from Vieillevie is pushing it a bit. The scenery is stunning and unusual. I think the fact that the gite is 450 metres above the river and not actually in Vieillevie should be made plain. The owners, especially Sarah, were more than helpful to us when I had a hospital emergency. She was absolutely marvellous.
