Situated in the tiny, unspoilt hamlet of Lagarrigue, perched above the River Lot, Le Cantou boasts views overlooking the beautiful scenery of a little known and very quiet part of the Lot Valley.
Le Cantou (Sleeps 4 people):
The cottage faces South and catches the light from morning to evening. However, the thick stone walls keep it cool in summer and warm in winter.
There is a spacious, comfortably furnished, living area and a beautiful Cantou fireplace with woodburner for our winter guests. Radiators provide further warmth.
The kitchen is equipped with oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine.
The main bedroom has a king sized bed and en suite bathroom with WC, hand basin and corner bath.This large bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, exposed timbers and a dormer window with views over the Lot Valley.
The lower ground floor twin bedroom has a large en suite shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. From the bedroom, a patio door opens onto a south facing terrace, equipped with table,chairs and parasol.
Outside the main living room there is a shadier, spacious terrace which is equipped with table, chairs, sunloungers and barbecue. Additional shade is provided by parasols.
The River Lot is well known for fishing and canoeing and there is an abundance of wonderful activities for guests to enjoy in the area, along with numerous places of interest including the famous village of Conques on the Route de St Jacques de Compostelle.
Canoeing down the River Lot is a must and there is a canoe school within 10 minutes of the cottage.
There is a golf course at Aurillac, 40 minutes' drive away with fabulous views of the mountains and another at Rodez.
There are many superb restaurants offering choices from the typically French menu du jour to haute cuisine. The local Marcillac and Entraygues wines are highly recommended and the locally-produced goats’ cheese recently won prestigious awards.
