I had an enjoyable stay in St Chinian, in a villag..

I had an enjoyable stay in St Chinian, in a village house located in a quiet street overlooking the river Vernazobres.

With several bars and restaurants to choose from, a supermarket/petrol station on the outskirts of the village, local shop, twice weekly market, butchers, post office, newsagent and local wine shops .......there is everything you need with these amenities just a short stroll from the house.

A boulangerie at the end of the street was extremely convenient for the daily croissant or pain au chocolat fix (!), a small shop supplying a variety of breads, sweet and savoury pastries and a warm welcome.

The house was a great base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding areas, including Beziers, Pezenas, Narbonne, the canal du midi and many more stunning locations along the way. The beaches and national park all within an easy drive from the village, I would certainly recommend taking the country routes through the hills to benefit from the wanderful views and authentic French villages along the way.

The house in St Chinian was very well equipped with all the home comforts you would probably want and expect from a holiday home (dishwasher, washing machine, fantastic shower etc) but yet still retaining the charm of an older French property.

During the cooler nights the house is equipped with electric heaters and for those warmer days a partly covered terrace for al fresco dinining. A picnic table and chairs are even provided so you can sit out next to the river in front of the house. There is a large utility area on the ground floor for washing/drying and storing bags/bikes or such like. A bicycle shop is also conveniently located at the end of the street which would certainly benefit those on a cycling holiday.

The house was as described in the rental brief, very clean, comfortable and it has been very well thought out in terms of what you would need for a comfortable stay, plenty of good quality crockery, cutlery, coffee machine, cooking utensils and table ware, (all matching) and even down to the shopping bags and picnic basket! Parking is outside the house and spaces are plentiful.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this charming village house in St Chinian, I just hope that it will be free to accommodate me again on a return visit to the Languedoc region.

Thank you Kirsten for your warm welcome, ease of booking and directions, hope to see you again soon.

 Charmerende hus i Saint Chinian

Charmerende hus i Saint Chinian

A comfortable relaxing stay

A delightful apartment well furnished and decorated providing an instant homely feel. The apartment is situated a short walk from the centre of St Chinian where there are all the amenities you require to make your holiday very easy. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of historic villages a short drive away with easy walk amongst the vineyards. Kirsten was very helpful and the information provided gave useful information to plan visits during our stay - the Canal du Midi and Narbonne market were 2 of our highlights. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday and we will certainly consider re-visiting.

Saint chinian's splendour

we forgot to write a review in October but we still talk about you, Kirsten! During our stay we were baffled at the completeness of the contents of your house, everything we needed during our stay of ten days we actually discovered. We must compliment you on that! Lovely town house, quiet location and lots to do and see in the area. Loved the oldies sitting in the sun in front of their houses. Only thing we missed was sitting outside in a little garden, but everything else was perfect. After a day of exploring we loved coming 'home'. Would certainly return!

Charming riverside house

Made the booking at short notice ( 1 week ). End of Feb we were a bit apprehensive but everything was great. The heating in the house is very efficient and the kitchen is well stocked. The only thing that could have improved it would be a microwave but that is a minor point. The village is lovely and quite central for days out (we had a hire car) either to inland villages or to the coast.Would recommend this house to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.

 A house by the river

A house by the river

Our party of four had a lovely time in Saint Chinian and in Quai Villeneuve.

Saint Chinian is a pleasant town, with a choice of good bakeries and an Intermarche. There are some really nice walks around this area too. We were lucky and just caught the end of the grape harvest. The wider surrounding area is also spectacular!

Quai Velleneuve is an excellent place to use as a base and to hang out. It's really well equipped with everything essential. The rear terrace is a bonus and makes a lovely spot for lazy evening meals. The river immediately in front is pretty and the sound of it in the front bedroom really comforting and relaxing. We had an evening of heavy rain during our stay and it was amazing how different the river looked the next day. The ducks survived though!

We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay in Quai Villeneuve again. Thank you Kirsten.

Highly recommended

We spent 4 wonderful weeks at Quai Villeneuve, in a lovely house in a pretty village.

St Chinian is a larger village with a charming twice-weekly market, and a range of shops, cafes and restaurants. It makes a wonderful base from which to enjoy lovely walks across the hills and through the vineyards, trips to nearby villages and attractions, or for simply sitting back and relaxing, eating and drinking the local produce.

The house is beautifully restored in a manner that blends modern appointments and original features,. The accommodation ideally suited us as a couple - we particularly enjoyed dining on the hidden terrace and the 100 meter stroll to the local boulangerie. The house was well maintained and was spotlessly clean throughout.

Gorgeous St Chinian house

We had a wonderful stay in Kirsten's house by the river in St Chinian. The house is beautifully furnished, stylish, comfortable and clean. Kirsten was very welcoming and kind and we really appreciated the personal touches on our arrival. This is a perfect location and croissants and delicious bread are a step away. I would suggest you investigate this special property. You will be delighted! Thank you Kirsten and hope to see you next year! Pandora

Dejligt feriehus.

Charming house

As part of our private "Tour de France" in May 2013 we had a great week in this very nice and charming house. We can recommend the terrasse when the sun is shining. - Kirsten was very helpful before and after arrival.

We enjoyed the market days - equipped with the traditional French basket - in St. Chinian.

We explored the beautiful landscapes by car and by bike.

We tasted - and bought - wine on our tours as well as in different places in St. Chinian.

Not far from St. Chinian we joined a tasty walk for a whole day in the heart of the vineyard with the winegrowers - 8 km with sunshine and amasing views in the "haut-Languedoc" region.

Our week in St. Chinian was unforgetable. . .
