A traditional 400 year old stone barn set in 2 acres of gardens, recently converted to accommodate 3 gites to a very high standard. Les Couroux is situated on a quiet country lane with sweeping panoramic views in almost every direction, here you are in the very heart of the wine growing region, surrounded by vineyards and Chateau’s, splendid views of vines, sunflowers, and the countryside.

Each gite comprises its own open plan living space with under floor heating, which is individually controlled in each room. In addition the original thick stone walls keep the interiors cool in the summer. All bedrooms have their own en-suite. The owners have a keen eye for detail and have aimed to create the highest of standards furnishing with Loaf, West Elm and Neptune. All the gites have free high speed WIFI included. A cot is available on request. No pets allowed.

There is ample parking amongst the lavender lined driveway, beautiful gardens and a secluded pool where you can take in the view. We provide a barbeque and garden furniture so you can make the most of the good weather. 
​Les Couroux is the perfect place to explore South West France only a 15 minutes drive from Bergerac airport, (Bergerac the second largest town in the Dordogne) and the medieval bastide town of Eymet only 5 minutes drive, well renowned for its night market.


THE BARN SLEEPS 9 IN 4 BEDROOMS

Spacious open plan fully fitted and well equipped kitchen with a range oven (gas hob with 5 burners, 2 electric ovens, plus grill)  American style fridge freezer with ice machine and chilled water, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster, a separate utility room with washing machine, iron and ironing board.

Large Open Plan Sitting/Dinning room

The main door from the driveway opens into a double height hallway leading into a spacious open plan sitting room with original oak beams, feature log burner, some exposed stone feature walls, comfortably furnished with a large sofa.  The dinning area is double height with a vaulted ceiling and original oak beams, there are 2 sets of French doors leading to a patio area and the garden.

Ground floor bedroom (1)

A separate lockable entrance door, with a lockable door to the rest of the house, a bright double room with beams and a feature stone wall, with large walk in shower ensuite adjacent.

Master bedroom (2)

From the oak staircase and of the beamed hallway are 3 large bedrooms, the master suite with a high oak beamed ceiling and feature stone wall a super king bed, a very large sliding door wardrobe, and ensuite with bath/shower.

Light spacious double room with original oak beams, ensuite shower room.

Bedroom (4)

Large spacious triple room (3 single beds) feature oak beams, ensuite shower room.

Local Attractions

The location of Les Couroux, St Julien d’ Eymet is perfect for those looking for a rural holiday yet you are just a five minute drive from the charming market town of Eymet. Eymet has some excellent restaurants and bars, a couple of supermarkets, a boulangerie and butchers as well as other interesting shops and a vibrant market in the beautiful main square on a Thursday. Being on the banks of the river there are some amazing views and great picnic spots. The town dates back to the 13th century and is a typical Bastide town in its layout, full of idyllic medieval houses and attractive buildings. The town hosts several cultural events and festivals throughout the year and is a vibrant as well as historical place to stay. In terms of activities you will find canoeing within ten minutes by car, bike trails in the area (and electric bike hire and tours in Eymet!) several golf courses within twenty minutes and a picturesque lake with swimming, slides, barbecue facilities and a café just half an hour away. In and around Bergerac you will find a waterpark, go-karting, boat rides and a miniature ferry sailing lake plus there is a tree-top activity centre for all ages just half an hour drive away in Sainte-Colombe-de-Duras. Younger kids will also love Le Chaudron Magique, an organic farm where children can milk the goats and make goats cheese!

You are surrounded by idyllic villages and towns, full of history and character, worthy of a visit for a leisurely lunch and explore such as the warren of medieval streets at Issigeac or the attractive Sainte-Foy-la-Grande facing the Dordogne. Not forgetting beautiful Bergerac with its medieval architecture, narrow streets of boutiques and great restaurants and impressive Bordeaux, definitely worthy of a fantastic day trip.

In under an hour you can access two of France’s Plus Beaux Villages, Monflaquin and Monpazier or follow the Dordogne east all the way to beautiful villages such as Beynac-et-Cazenac, La Roque-Gageac and Domme before heading north to delightful Sarlat-la-Canéda. For a change of scene you can also head west for a day trip to the coast to sample some local oysters at Cap Ferret or Arcachon.

Wine-lovers are in the perfect location with vineyards in the surrounding area as well as both south and north of the Dordogne, some of them organic. As well as the famous La Route des Vins de Bergerac, you also have the Bordeaux vineyards to the west and beautiful Saint-Émilion just an hour away. Nearby the Château de Monbazillac is an especially wonderful place to sample and buy wines whilst Eymet even has its own local brewery if you fancy a change of drink!

Those looking to experience market days across the region should head to Saint Alvere on a Monday, Riberac on a Tuesday, Bergerac or Sarlat on a Wednesday, nearby Eymet or Saint Astier on a Thursday, Souillac on a Friday, finishing off with Saint Cyprian or Issigeac on a Sunday. Bergerac also hosts a wonderful flea market on the first Sunday of every month and in the summer you should look out for the atmospheric night markets dotted around the villages of the Dordogne, including Eymet, for a special experience of amazing food and festivities. Each market often specialises in a regional cuisine and/or craft from that area and sometimes throughout the year seasonal markets pop up.
