We had a very relaxing time staying in this lovely gite. It is perfect for 2 people and unusual to find accommodation for 2 with a pool. The pool was shared with the gite on the other side but we didn't find that a problem. Steph was there to welcome us when we arrived and was very helpful telling about where to go locally. The gite was clean and there was a welcome pack too. The location was really good and only 5 minutes from Eymet, which is the best place locally for restaurants, and close to many other interesting bastides and villages. The night market in Sauvetat on Fridays in the summer was a great experience and only 3-4 minutes drive away. Nearly everyday there is a market on in a different village closeby.

We had an incredible stay at Le Matou. The gite far exceeded our expectations. Very comfortable, clean and a real home from home. Stephanie and Bruce were wonderful hosts, nothing too much trouble and the welcome basket complete with a couple of bottles of chilled wine was the cherry on top! I'd highly recommend staying here.

We have just returned from a week, staying in the le grande pin gite.

The gite was very comfy, relaxing and immaculate throughout.

We were greeted by the owner Steph who made us feel very welcome from the start and continued until our departure.

Steph and Bruce were very helpful in recommending places to visit and made arrangements for us to visit a wine vineyard (tasting) and chocolate factory, well worth a visit.

The weather was very hot 30 degrees upwards, so the pool helped us to keep cooled down, also the sun beds were extremely comfy, the best I have ever had on a holiday.

Eymet is short distance away, which is so pretty with cobbled streets, we visited on market day which was very impressive, with lots of French produce stalls, covering the central square and side streets.

We also visited Domme, which is such a beautiful drive through the countryside.

On arrival, we hired a canoe and were taken by car up the river dordoyn to canoe down , stream .

It was an amazing experience, very tranquil, we would like to do this again on our return.

There is also a 9 hole golf course near by, which was lots of fun.

The overall holiday was relaxing and peaceful, but plenty of amenities to explore.

We had an amazing holiday and are looking forward to our next visit.

Stephanie made us feel most welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. She was the perfect hostess. The accommodation was set in beautiful and private surroundings and yet just a short distance from the town of Eymet. We stayed in the smaller of the gites, which was cavernous! We were also lucky enough to be shown the 2 bedroom gite which was also first class! The immaculate pool was an important feature as the temperature soared! I'd recommend taking part in the vineyard tour by Bergerac Wine Tours for a relaxing day out. Hopefully we'll be back for some more house hunting and without doubt will be back to stay at Steph's!

We had a week here in Sept in the smaller gite. Well, it’s pretty big! The lounge/kitchen is cavernous. Bruce and Steph had thoughtfully provided a welcome pack, so we could take a much needed drink on arrival as it was extremely hot. In fact it was in the mid 30’s all week. Bruce & Steph are a friendly couple with all those local knowledge tips to share with you.

The gite is very well equipped and the pool is a delight. Nearest supermarket is only 5 mins away yet you are seemingly well out in the countryside. There are many bastide towns to visit and the Dordogne area is on your doorstep. Market day at Issigeac is a delight. Bergerac is lovely to roam around. Further afield you can easily get to St.Emilion and Pomerol and those inviting vineyards. Don’t forget the wines of Duras, Pecharmant and Monbazillac. Bordeaux is reachable in just over the hour. Leave your car in Lormont at one of the park and ride facilities (we used Les Lauriers). Then take the tram (very cheap & includes your all day parking!) and explore Bordeaux. The new Cite du Vin is worth a tour if you like your wines. Set in a quite spectacular building with 15,000 wines from all around the world, you get an audio guide, multi- sensory displays and a very good panoramic restaurant on floor 7. Book a table when you arrive as it gets pretty busy, and the view is amazing. Don’t forget your complimentary glass of wine on floor 8!

Many thanks for a lovely week, just what we needed.

The property and gardens reach and exceeded our expectations. The property was spotless and the provision of fresh linen halfway through our stay was very welcome. Steph was an excellent host and provided information about local facilities and recommended a wonderful Peruvian restaurant in nearby Eymet. We would highly recommend the Gite for anyone wishing to spend time in this region of France.

We’ve just returned from the most relaxing two week break in Le Grand Pin. It was really tempting not to leave a review for purely selfish reasons, we don’t want to share how lovely this Gite is!

The photos on the website simply do not do this property justice; it’s cosy, romantic and has absolutely everything you need. It was an effort most days to drag ourselves out of bed it was so comfy to go sightseeing.

During our stay we were lucky enough to see red squirrels and deer while enjoying our morning coffees on the decking, the gite is in such a peaceful and tranquil setting.

There are two supermarkets within 5 minutes of the property and lots of Bastide Towns to visit in close proximity. Eymet was especially nice with lots of restaurants and bars and only 5 minutes by car. There are local day and night markets easily accessible and you are only half an hour from Bergerac, which is definitely worth a visit.

Steph and Bruce are the perfect hosts, thank you for a lovely holiday, you’re now in my favourites, and we’ll be back!

Michelle and Dave.
