Dordogne Country Cottage with Private Recreational Lake, Saint-Priest-les-Fougeres Reviews

What better recommendation can I give than to say that this year we returned to St Priest for the 8th year and as always, had a fantastic holiday.

As always we received a wonderfully warm welcome from Victor and Gaynor and the cottage was spotless and provides everything you need, and the lake is a natural paradise, perfect for swimming and fishing or just chilling in the sun with a book chosen from the wide selection in the cottage.

When we could tear ourselves away from the lake we ventured out to lovely local towns and villages, often on market days and would recommend Brantome and Piegut-Pluviers for a good mix of tasty treats, local colour and gift ideas.

This year we took our very busy 7th month old working cocker spaniel too - a dog with limitless energy. She had a lovely time exploring the lake and its environment and slept soundly every night. Having never travelled with a dog before we were slightly anxious about the official hoops you have to jump through prior to returning to the UK but Gaynor recommended a lovely local vet who took care of everything and it all went without a hitch.

Also new to us this year was the revelation that is Limoges Airport. Our teenage daughter had 2 friends fly down to join us for a few days. They had a great time with us, particularly enjoying the village fete weekend and the lake, after which the 3 girls flew home together to collect GCSE results. Flights were with Flybe between Southampton and Limoges, both airports being easily accessible and reassuringly small, friendly and easy find your way through and only four hours door to door - our daughter has declared that she will be flying next year!

And we have already booked for next year - just trying to see if we can squeeze in an extra week!
