Following our 9th 2-week holiday at La Maison Jaun..

Following our 9th 2-week holiday at La Maison Jaune I find it difficult to find anything new to say about our stay as I have run out of superlatives in previous reviews but I will try!

As always, a wonderfully warm welcome from Victor and Gaynor (even for our mad 18month old cocker spaniel), an immaculate, well equipped cottage with lovely personal touches and then 2 weeks of relaxing by the beautiful lake, fishing, swimming, rowing and soaking up the natural beauty and tranquillity.

Our 17 year old daughter was joined for a few days by 3 friends and they had a great time together, including a fun night at the Pizza Restaurant in La Coquille, before flying home from Limoges to Southampton - a very easy trip.

We had a rewarding trip to the weekly market in Piugeut Pluviers, a busy weekly market full of locals and visitors browsing a wide range of stalls - we particularly recommend the spit roasted chicken and quail as well as some very tasty cheese with fenugreek. Shopped out we then sat in the sun outside a café (who immediately provided a water bowl for the dog) and enjoyed a beer, chatted to friendly locals and watched the world go by.

Another must for us every year is dinner on the pretty terrace at Le Voyageur in La Coquille - great friendly service, lovely presentation and tasty food.

And then there are our lovely hosts, Victor and Gaynor , they are a big part in what keeps drawing us back. We spent several entertaining evenings in their company, at the fun village fete and around their welcoming dinner table. We were lucky enough to be invited to join them and their family for dinner. As always Victor donned the chefs apron and produced a delicious curry dinner - I am a definite curry convert - while Gaynor bustled about producing plates of starters, cheese and dessert and ensuring no glass was left empty for long - a very convivial evening all round.

I'm sure it goes without saying - we love our time at La Maison Jaune and cant recommend it highly enough. We are hoping to squeeze in 3 weeks next year.
