We returned for the 10th year to this gem of a location. The cottage was, as always immaculate, and we received the usual warm welcome from our hosts, Victor and Gaynor - who are more family than friends now. The weather couldn't have been better for the duration of our stay with clear blue skies and temperatures ranging from high 20s to mid 30s. The lake was wonderfully warm so many of our days were spent fishing, swimming and relaxing at lakeside - complete heaven.

This year my 80yr old Mum joined us for a week flying from Southampton and Limoges - she has sight problems so I had booked airport assistance for her at both ends - a fantastic free service with lovely staff accompanying her from check-in to the aircraft - definitely to be recommended for anyone with any mobility issues. Mum had a lovely, restful stay, mainly featuring eating, drinking and sleeping, but she now completely understands why we have waxed lyrical about our holidays at La Maison Jaune with Vic and Gaynor for 10 years! Our 18yr old was delighted with this years addition of WiFi so was able to maintain contact with the 'real world' and on a lazy evening we did actually make use of the DVD player and watched one of the good selection of films available in the cottage.

We went to a fab restaurant, the St Jaques at St Saud, where we had a wonderful evening on the terrace overlooking the pretty garden - delicious food, every plate looking like a picture - dinner for 4 with wine drinks came to around £150 - very reasonable for what you get and a definite recommendation for a special night. For more simple food we went to La Provencal pizza restaurant in La Coquille - very tasty and only about £50.

I also spent a lovely morning on horse back with Gillian in St Saud - she has a good selection of horses for riders of all ages and experience levels and I had a great time riding through the pretty countryside.

As always, top of our list of highlights were our evenings spent in the company of Vic, Gaynor and their family - the wine flows, the food is delicious, and the company is great - even the dog got dinner too! We cant thank them enough for making our holiday so special. St Priest and Victor and Gaynor hold a special place in our hearts.

Now to plan next years visit . . . !
