Le Griffier is charming character cottage that has been delightfully renovated. In an ideal spot for walking or cycling through the quiet lanes, amongst the woodlands and water courses of the Vendee “Marais”, as well as being well situated for visiting the famous canals of the nearby “Green Venice”.
The swimming pool is 9.5m long and has access steps. There is a sliding pool enclosure, allowing bathing into early and late season and which can be closed for child safety.
There are village amenities at just 1 ½ miles, including bakery/shop/bar, and simple restaurant. There is a quality riverside restaurant at 6 miles. The towns of Lucon and Fontenay le Comte (supermarkets, shops, weekly market) are both nearby (10 miles) as are the beaches of the Vendee coast (La Faute sur Mer 23 miles). The historic town of La Rochelle is within easy reach (30 miles) for airport and fly-drive.
There is a nature reserve nearby, fabulous for bird-watchers in spring and autumn.
Cycle hire available locally.
Accommodation comprises:
Open-plan lounge/dining room. Compact kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine)
Double bedroom.
Mezzanine sleeping with two single beds (low ceiling and steep stairs – if in doubt please consult us for the suitability for young children).
Shower room with toilet. Terrace with garden dining furniture, barbecue.
Garden. Children’s play house, table tennis, boules. Off-road parking. TV (most UK channels), DVD player, WiFi internet connection.
Swimming pool – occasional use of the pool by the owners but priority to guests. Pool-side terrace with sun-loungers. Pool open late April to late September. The owners live in a separate house on site (far side of the parking area).
