Just returned from a delightful holiday. What a scenic and picturesque area! The wild flowers at this time of year were spectacular and the list of things to see and do goes on and on!

The gîte was very clean and comfortable in a very friendly and quiet village location, just a stone's throw from local amenities. Would certainly consider renting the gîte again and would recommend it and the area for anyone with a liking of the outdoors. In particular, anyone with a passion for cycling.

We have had a very enjoyable holiday exploring mountains, cycling, visiting villages towns and beaches. We visited Leucate, Le Bacares & Sainte Marie beaches - all very relaxing, cool breeze, sand and marvellous sea! This is a wonderfully well equipped holiday home - it has everything you could possibly need!

A very interesting village - silent one minute & things happening the next - leaves you guessing what will be the next sound! Shame to be going home!

We had a wonderful time at Le Chat Qui Rit, and enjoyed the area very much. We watched the fireworks in Carcassonne - to be recommended - and stopped at Peyperteuse on the way to Opoul. We spent some days at the beach - our favourite was Leucate Plage - and we took a drive over the Spanish border and had lunch on the way back at Banyuls-Sur-Mer and afternoon drinks in Collioure. There is so much to do in the area including wine tasting at every stop.

The house was extremely comfortable and superbly equipped - not sure what else you could do to make it more so to be honest. Plenty of cupboard supplies on a replacement basis (great idea) and all furnishings just like home.

We would definitely stay in Le Chat Qui Rit if we came back to this area.

Many thanks for a memorable stay, Nicola, Andrew, Max and Aurelia

Thanks for a lovely holiday - we have had a wonderful time. The house is delightful and very well equipped. We followed your recommendations and visited Peyrepertuse (including the walk up from the village) and the gorges at Carança (very impressive!) We also went to Castelnou for the market, which was lovely and had lunch in Thuir at a restaurant called Can Marty Bodéga - food was nice and the service friendly. However, there are still lots of things we didn't manage to do and we would love to come back again next year! I am sure we will be in touch to arrange a second visit if you will have us again!

Best wishes, Libby & Richard

We have had a great holiday here in Opoul. The house was fantastic and had everything we needed. We tried lots of the beaches - Leucate, Bacares, La Franqui and liked them all - all clean and uncrowded. We loved Opoul and Bernadette was very friendly and helpful and went out of her way to show us around.

We would love to come here again!

We had a wonderful time in Opoul and found the village to be as charming as promised. The house suited our purpose very well and we did indeed find it very comfortable. Thank you for that and for your very helpful notes about Opoul and the surrounding area which were useful especially in the first few days when we were finding our feet. The only problem was that a week was not enough time to really explore the area but that can be rectified at some point in the future!

Just to let you know we have really enjoyed our stay here in Opoul. Your gîte is perfectly situated for sight-seeing in the area.

It is just like home from home, the gîte is very well equipped and comfortable. There is plenty to do in the area and we really enjoyed all the beaches.

Would recommend your holiday home to others. Many thanks for all your info on the gîte. It really helped. We loved our holiday and hope to come back again.

As much as everything else that was on offer, we enjoyed your beautiful gîte, which we found incredibly comfortable, homely, welcoming and which made the stay very relaxing. We have been doing lots of sightseeing and found that time was the only thing that we were limited by.

We found the village very inviting and its people extremely friendly and warm. We found Odette's wine the best, after trying a couple of vignerons in Fitou. We definitely recommend her.

We hope that everyone who'll stay here will enjoy their time as much as we did. We have loved every moment of this week and hope to return to this wonderful region again. Thanks again, we're off to have our last supper in Opoul chez Le Lézard.

PS. The meal was superb and we had Odette's wine again!!

We enjoyed our stay, not long enough, immensely. The people of Opul are lovely, we would leave the village in the mornings to waves and bonne journ'ee!.We managed to get into the high Pyrenees, but made for home when the snow warning started bleeping in the car. There is a very nice restaurant in Leucate Plage, The Hotel Revee, which serves a good 'formula midi' for 14 euros with plenty of choices. Altogether a very enjoyable time and thanks for allowing us to stay at Le Chat Qui Rit. I've a feeling we will be in touch again
