Welcome to Domaine Le Gabachou, an eighteenth-century farmhouse on the banks of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Canal du Midi and only a 20 minute drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Cité de Carcassonne. The property comprises of the owners house (on-site) and 4 well appointed gîtes set in one hectare of beautifually landscaped gardens with a heated (shared) swimming pool, seating areas and barbeques to use. The is plenty of shade for the hot summer months to relax and enjoy a good book and a glass of wine. The property is surrounded by agricultural land, normally set to sunflowers and is a little oasis set at the end of a 1.5kms tow path / drive from the nearest road, yet still only 3kms into the town of Bram which is well serviced for your culinary needs. You can also explore Cathar Castles, Les Montagnes Noires, medieval hilltop towns and colourful markets, all within easy reach, and not to mention a number of vineyards within easy reach.
The gites, La Maison D’Olives, Le Tournesol, Le Gabachou and L'Atelier offer peace and tranquility, coupled with all the comforts you would expect in a real ‘home from home’.

This single-level, one-bedroom gîte was completed in 2012 and is called the ‘Workshop’ as it is adjoined to the barn. The king-sized double bedroom leads onto an en-suite shower room with WC and basin and through doors to a comfortable sitting room with sofa and chair and UK FreeSat TV. The kitchen is a good size and leads on a small dining area and off that its own paved courtyard outside for al fresco dining in the shade of the catalpa tree.

Le Gabachou is ideally situated to explore the diversity and beauty of the Languedoc Roussillon countryside. With a warm Mediterranean climate, the area not only boasts row upon row of vines and sunflowers, but also the first fruits of France: early ripening cherries, peaches, figs, and apricots.
The farmhouse is just 20 kms west of the famous medieval city of Carcassonne; the Mediterranean is just an hour’s drive (visit Gruissan for the day - a wonderful old fishing village with a yacht harbour and sandy beaches). Golfing at Carcassonne is also close by.
For architecture, shopping and museums, drive to energetic Toulouse - known as the 'Pink City' for its beautiful red-brick buildings. It's many elegant squares, bordered with cafes, are perfect for sitting back and watching the world go by.
This is also Cathar country – with numerous castles and abbeys to visit. On the trail of the Da Vinci Code take in the mysterious church of Rennes-le Chateau.
