Wirklich empfehlenswert.

A clean and well prepared propery. The owners are very helpful and send useful maps and local information. The bed is really comfortable, unusual in many gites! Chateau landon is an attractive place and it's an easy walk from the gite to restaurants and bread shops. There is a local supermarket but also a very large Auchan at Souppe; a short drive away. We had many walks alongside rivers and canals. We also visited Guedalon (last visited 8 years ago); a "medieval" castle and workshops being built over about 20 years. We had a great week for weather and we plan to come back again in the future.

As soon as you walk in you feel relaxed. This is unmistakably a well loved family holiday home, if you're wanting 5* state of the art modern luxury, this won't be for you. If you want somewhere where you can feel completely at home, very safe and make some family holiday memories - this is the one.

The house is laid out really well, when the beautiful shutters are open light pours in to every room. It's spacious and all the living space is on the one floor. There are enough books to stay for years reading and there is plenty of literature left on local attractions - helpfully organised into sections.

The dishwasher, washing machine etc are all simple to use.

Then there's the basement - kid heaven. Pool table, air hockey and table tennis. Loads of different bikes and they are all pretty decent! The garden is lovely, really quite private.

Location wise it's right in the centre, literally 2 mins walk from the town square - but because of its positioning on a road leading out of town, you wouldn't really know. It's very quiet. The town is beautiful and if you just wanted to get away from it all you could spend a week happily just pottering around the house and town, but it's location to some more major attractions; Paris, Fontainblue and Disney also make it a good spot for the explorer.

This would be a very good choice for smallish (6) climbing parties as well as families.

All in all, superb value for money and we were really impressed. Oh and it was spotlessly clean if that sort of thing matters to you!

The owners were incredibly nice in all communications, sent very helpful details and you are left with the overwhelming impression that they are a lovely family who have also really enjoyed creating this home from home.

This review is a bit late as we stayed in this glorious property for 2 weeks in

July 2013. (The date section above didn't go back that far, but had to be completed) We had decided to take our two children to disneyland and to visit

Paris. After much research and being tied to peak holiday season we decided that we would make a 4 day trip into a 2 week holiday. We wanted to find somewhere within travelling distance to Paris but yet peaceful. This property ticked all the boxes.

Claude and jenny were helpful from the start, this was our first booking through

Owners direct and they made everything so simple.

We arrived following a long drive from Northern Ireland. The gite was everything we imagined and more. We felt at home immediately. Secure parking and beautiful garden. The town of Chateau Landon is tranquil and a perfect base for visiting such a beautiful part of France. Everything you need is within walking distance. The gite is so well equiped and wonderful for children. The kids loved the games room, bikes and back garden. The rooms were clean and airy and the kitchen is fully equiped, mornings with the shutters open looking out the back is truely peaceful.

Jenny and Claude provided loads of maps and information leaflets and the guide to the gite was very informative. There is so much to do in the local area. Fontainebleau and the chateau, the beautiful Barbizon, the medevil town of Provin and Chateau Vaux le Vicomte. Walking and climing rocks in the forest. You can get the train direct to Paris from Souppes sur Loing and there is also a lovely market there. There are lovely lakes to swim. And not forgetting disneyland. The town Chateau Landon has a beautiful park and river, my kids still talk about bastile day, playing traditional wooden games in the park and that evening standing on the ramparts watching the firework displays in all the surrounding towns and villiages.

I know we only scrapped the surface of this part of France, there is so much more to see and do. I would highly recommend staying in this lovely gite in a beautuful part of the world. I am so sorry it has taken so long to write a review, thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.

We had a wonderful two weeks here.

The house was clean, warm and comfortable and had everything we needed. The area is quiet and peaceful, with lovely walks to the park, along the riverbank and to the patisserie (my favourite shop). I had a couple of great bike rides along the canal and then back through the countryside to Chateau Landon. The Wi-Fi was superb and allowed us to keep in contact with family back home.

I took the train to Paris for the day and it only cost 16 euro which included the metro!

We also took a day trip to Provins. and one to the Palace of Fontainbleu. There are numerous leaflets in the house details activities, events and sights around the area to cover just about all interests.

Look forward to our next visit.

Thank you Jenny, Claude for your help.

After a difficult Winter with lots of family and health issues, my husband and I set off with my father-in-law to this beautiful spot. The little house (that is more an affectionate term than a fact as the house is not small) captured our hearts. We loved sitting in the kitchen each morning with the windows thrown wide open, just listening to the birdsong. We all fought for the chair by the window! The property is well equipped and feels so very homely and comfortable and as if it is caring for you. It felt like manna for the soul. We were sad that we could only stay a few days and we look forward to going back perhaps next May when many more restaurants and attractions are open. April is still very quiet for tourism but actually perhaps one of the better times to go! Our heartfelt thanks go to Jenny and Claude for sharing their little piece of tranquil France.

We have just returned from a fabulous week in Chateau Landon. We have 3 children ranging in age from 3 to 13 and it's difficult to find a holiday that suits all. This beautiful house had a wonderful secure garden for the little ones to play in, a fabulous games room for all and most importantly, wifi access for the teenager.

Chateau Landon is absolutely beautiful. Peaceful and quiet but with everything you need, including a fantastic park. My husband is a keen climber and spent many days in Fontainebleau forest, some of which the whole family tagged along for, and had an amazing time.

The house itself is so well equipped, wonderfully French and so obviously loved and cared for by it's owners.

A fantastic holiday that I can't recommend highly enough.

The house has everything and more that you could possibly need to be comfortable. A true French house with a garden giving areas of sun and shade, play and relaxation. My review is headed 'so well placed' because:-

1 - the house is very peaceful just on the edge of the village but only two minutes walk to the centre to gather all you need from the village shops or five minutes walk to a Carrefour supermarket

2 - the village of Chateau Landon is superb; history, scenery, canal, river, a huge park with lots of things for children and many paths to stroll for we older ones and, everywhere, a feeling of total safety

3 - the villages and towns within, at most, a 45minutes drive are amazing with Fontainebleu included in these - a must see

and 4 - if you really wish to travel further afield Paris and Euro-Disney are there waiting; information in the house tells you how.

Jenny and Claude are the most caring of owners. You can tell it is their well loved French home and as you settle in it becomes your comfortable home for the holiday.

There is lots of information in the house to help you get the best from your holiday not to mention bikes if you wish to travel on two wheels to get there.

In the last 30 years we have passed through the area many times on the motorway and we now wonder why. We were so taken with both Seine et Marne and the house that we decided we could very happily stay there a long, long time.

We had a fabulous week in Chateau Landon. This house is absolutely lovely with lots for young children to do and the play park by the river was a real bonus and set as it is in extensive semi-wooded grassland it is a very relaxing site for a picnic. Chateau Landon is picture postcard perfect – a truly lovely spot and the surrounding towns, villages and countryside are also wonderful. We managed a day trip to Disneyland, one to Paris and a couple of walks around Fontainebleau Forest. The rest of the time we relaxed around the lovely garden and wandered the streets and park of Chateau Landon. The owner, Jenny, could not be more helpful – a genuine enthusiast for the area and for ensuring that her guests have a great time. I very strongly suspect that we will be back.

We had a lovely week in this delightful holiday house - so warm, cosy, well equipped and with a wonderful atmosphere. My husband said that it felt like 'a house where people have done a lot of smiling!' We found some wonderful walks in the Fontainbleau forest, explored the banks of the Seine and ventured to the interesting town of Provins. The chateau at Fontainebleau is unmissable. Paris is not too far away for a visit, but we found plenty to do more locally and might save a trip to the capital for a return visit!
