The 3 gorgeous holiday cottages near Monflanquin, set in this unspoilt corner of Lot-et-Garonne, are an ideal choice for three-generation families or groups of friends looking to enjoy an idyllic holiday together. La Balie also features a very spacious wood-floored studio and function room, making it a wonderful venue for yoga retreats, special interest or business groups, and intimate wedding receptions.
La Balie sleeps 16 in 3 units:
8 king size double beds or 16 singles or combination
Le Pigeonnier sleeps 6
La Grenouilliere sleeps 6
La Lavandiere sleeps 4
The converted farm buildings have been thoughtfully transformed into characterful stone cottages, retaining many original features while offering contemporary luxury and bright, open-plan living spaces. La Balie also boasts a fantastic open-air heated saltwater pool with sun terrace, gardens, and beautiful views — it couldn’t be better.
All of the cottages are beautifully designed, with well-equipped kitchens, dining areas, and cosy lounges with wood-burning stoves. Each property has its own private courtyard with furniture for alfresco dining, while a separate terrace provides the perfect space for everyone to come together and share meals. Extensive lawns offer plenty of room for group games, corporate team-building activities, and memorable wedding photos.
Each bedroom is styled with cool, soft furnishings to create calm and relaxing spaces for maximum comfort, and all are en suite. Of the 8 bedrooms, 6 feature walk-in showers, while 2 have baths with showers. Five of the rooms are located on the ground floor, making access easier for guests with reduced mobility. The bedrooms can be configured to suit your group’s needs. First-floor rooms have air conditioning, while the ground-floor rooms remain naturally cool thanks to their traditional stone walls.
Guests may find it hard to leave this beautiful countryside setting or the inviting pool, but there are lovely walks directly from the property, including the special circular route through open woodland, St Avit, and the rock-hewn tower of Gavaudun. Monflanquin, a charming bastide village, is just a short drive away and is recognised as one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France. The surrounding area is rich in historic towns, dramatic castles, and lively markets. You can also visit local vineyards or enjoy activities such as kayaking on the Dordogne or Lot rivers.
La Balie is truly a magical place, with sweeping views over the Lède Valley towards the beautiful bastide of Monflanquin and standing at the entrance to the Gavaudun Valley — a timeless landscape where forests hold centuries of history in this remarkable part of Lot-et-Garonne.
THE YOGA STUDIO
The purpose-built studio, with its oak floor and acoustic ceiling, opens onto a beautiful terrace and pool surrounded by gardens and peaceful countryside views.
The studio is supported by three individual cottages, offering eight twin or double bedrooms, each with modern en-suite shower rooms or bathrooms. Rooms can be arranged with double or single beds to suit your group.
Six large openings provide excellent natural ventilation, and the studio comfortably accommodates groups of up to 25 students.
Climate control ensures the studio remains comfortable year-round, with heating during cooler months and cooling during warmer weather.
On the south side, the studio opens onto a small courtyard, with steps leading to the large terrace, guest swimming pool, gardens, grounds, and surrounding countryside. Positioned on a hill, the studio offers a peaceful environment free from distractions, yet remains conveniently close to the three gîtes and outdoor dining terrace.
There are two toilet facilities, including one suitable for guests with reduced mobility. The studio also features beams suitable for aerial yoga, which continues to grow in popularity.
La Balie provides equipment for up to 16 students, including mats, large and small bricks, blankets, and bolster cushions.
When planning your retreat, we invite you to discuss your specific requirements so we can ensure you have all the equipment you need, especially if students are not bringing their own.
A sound system suitable for yoga retreats is also available.
