Cosy Farmhouse Cottage for long let - Eymet, Dordogne - Les Chenes

The farmhouse cottage Les Chênes (The Oaks) can accommodate from 2 to 6 people with 3 bedrooms with ensuite bathroom and airco. It is situated in the countryside near Eymet in the south of the department of the Dordogne, in a hamlet of 3 houses called Lauzanac.

The farmhouse cottage Les Chênes is open all year round for long lets from 2 to 10 months while househunting or for a French experience. We allow dogs (1 or 2) but sorry, no cats anymore.

In the past, this cottage was a wine storehouse.  We have restored and converted it in the authentic style of the region and added a private, secure pool.  Its name comes from the oaks just beyond the garden.

The garden

The double level enclosed garden is about 1200m².  On the first level, leading to the front door, is a covered terrace with table and chairs, conveniently close to the barbecue.  Up a few steps is the second level, a large green space with a swing for children. To the right of this second garden area is the swimming pool (8m x 4m), both private and securely fenced.  Under the pool-house, as well as a shower room with toilet and basin, is a ping-pong table and some sun loungers for lazing by the pool (not open before May).

Ground floor

Don’t be taken in by the seemingly small front of the house – actually, it is a bit of a tardis, much bigger than it looks!  The farmhouse cottage Les Chênes is a comfortable and modern house with an authentic old style incorporating the old roof beams and leaving some of the stone walls showing and enhancing the character of the building.  The main room has kept all the height of the wine storehouse and offers a large space with a huge fireplace.  A fine wrought-iron staircase made by the owner, Thierry, leads up to the bedrooms.

The front door opens onto a large and handsome open plan room.  The huge dining table is big enough for 10 and the sitting area is in front of the fireplace with its wood-burning stove – you can open the doors to enjoy the flames.  The kitchen is really well equipped with: dishwasher,washing-machine,microwave,hob,oven,fridge-freezer,food processor,coffee machine,kettle and toaster.

In this same large room is a desk with high speed internet access (Wifi), a printer on demand and some information about the area.

First floor

Off the gallery over the large living room is the purple bedroom with:1 double bed ,2 bedside tables,a single bed,a baby’s cot, hanging cupboard, cupboard,ensuite bathroom with bath, basin and toilet.

On your right is the blue bedroom with:1 double bed, 2 bedside tables,a cot, hanging cupboard, chest of drawers,a table that can be used as a desk,ensuite bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. 

On the left is a small lounge with: 2 sofas, television with satellite for internationnal channels ,DVD player, a library with some books and DVDs.

Lastly you come to the green bedroom with:1 double bed,1 tallboy,1 built-in cupboard,1 desk,1 old chest of drawers, ensuite shower room with shower, basin and toilet.

Towels and linen are provided for the whole stay.
