Our family of four (parents and two sons) from Nas..

Our family of four (parents and two sons) from Nashville, Austin,Texas, and Denver, Colorado, USA, had the pleasure of enjoying the comfort and hospitality of Astrid's Villa Vanesse, the perfect base camp for traveling to and from the amazing sights of the departement of Vaucluse.

We found Sarrians to be a charming and friendly village. The local boulangeries and charcuteries are well-supplied and the owners will always greet you with a smile and a "Bonjour". These merchants, as well as a few nice restaurants, are a few minutes walk from the Villa.

We were blessed with 7 completely clear days- cool mornings and hot afternoons- absolute perfection. Our morning ritual was to rise early, take a brisk refreshing dip in the amazing pool, which was surrounded by lush plant life, including fragrant lavender (which bees love as well) and a very fecund loquat tree, which are found throughout the region. Unfortunately, we arrived at the tail end of the fruiting season, so not many fruit were still on the tree, but the ground was covered with over-ripe fruit. Maybe 2-4 weeks earlier would have been peak eating season. The house remained comfortable during the hot days, thanks to good cross-ventilation and thick walls.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped and inviting. The house itself was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and very private. The kitchen was very well supplied and we cooked a few dinners there as well as made use of the charcoal grill outside.

So many things to do and see. We all raved about the Sunday A.M. market in L'isle sur-la-Sorgue. The variety and quantity of fresh fruit, vegetables, breads, cheeses and other goods will leave you stunned and wondering why you don't live there. You must go. Nearby Fontaine de Vaucluse is a shady and tranquil village and the location of the source of the Sorgue River. Hiking in Les Dentelles (near Vaison La Romaine) also amazing (moderate difficulty, but worth the effort). Our kids loved the Roman aqueduct Pont Du Gard, about an hour away, near Remoulins.

We are unanimous in recommending Villa Vanesse to anyone looking for a location to relax, cook, read, swim, walk, and just enjoy this part of France.

Our two families had a wonderful time staying at this Sarrians property. We had four adults and four teenagers. The property was beautiful. The house was very well equipped. It was very hot when we were visiting, so made good use of the pool. Our hostess was very gracious; she went out of her way to ensure our comfort and to make us feel welcome. She was very attentive when we had questions. We found Sarrians to be a good location. There were many sites such as the Pope's palace, the Roman amphitheatre at Orange, Pont du Gard and the Van Gogh sites at Arles that were within driving distance. Not all of us always felt like touring, so staying by the pool and walking into town to a bakery or restaurant was also a popular option. One day the adults had a lovely day with a private guided tour of some wineries with Avignon Wine Tours.

We had an excellent experience and would recommend this property to others.

In September 2012, five of us (4 adults, one 8-year old child) stayed at Villa Vanesse in Sarrians. The house was not only beautiful but it was also clean on arrival, stocked with food (enough for our first day), and complete with all necessities from towels to kitchen appliances. As soon as we pulled up through the electric gate, we were given a nice tour of the house which included an intro into all the small things we needed to know (such as how to operate the laundry, turn on the house alarm, work the outdoor kitchen, and a few others).

The house itself is really nice. There are four bedrooms and a den, a beautiful and well equipped kitchen that even the most qualified chef would enjoy, living room/dining room, a laundry facility with two washing machines and a dryer, extra fridge, covered car port, outdoor kitchen with a griddle and a small charcoal BBQ, and of course a beautiful pool with lots of seating as well as an outdoor dining table. The pool is not currently heated which made it a little too chilly to enjoy as often as we would have liked but it is something that will be coming soon according to Astrid. The yard itself is also immaculately kept with lots of nice trees and flowers. The house has many TVs with Satellite (we didn't use it), good Wifi throughout most of the house and free phone calls to the U.S.

The town of Sarrians, a 10 minute walk from the villa, itself isn't much to dream about yet it is stocked with bakeries, a few restaurants, an ATM, grocery store and other shops. Sarrians is most easily accessed by car via the Marseille airport (about an hour drive) and is centrally located to many interesting spots. During our visit, we visited several towns within an hour radius of Sarrians including Orange (there's a beautiful Roman amphitheater), Vaison la Romaine (a must see on Tuesdays as there's a large market and beautiful old town), Chauteauneuf-du-Pape, Avignon, Arles (not worth visiting in our opinion), Les Baux (gorgeous town, worth every minute), Carpentras (average town but has a few great restaurants including Chez Serge), and finally, Nice, Monaco, and Villefrance-sur-mer (a 2.5 hour drive but well worth it).

Overall, we'd definitely recommend the Villa to friends and family. Not only is the Villa really nice and inviting, Astrid bends over backwards to ensure your stay is a memorable one. If you get a chance to stay, we think you'd really enjoy it and it's proximity to nearby towns.

How happy were we to arrive at Sarrians after an eight hour drive from Biarritz. We were two families from Melbourne , Australia in search of a relaxing accommodation with a requisite pool to ease the summer sun. We found just that in delightful Villa Vanesse managed by a most friendly and helpful owner. The Villa easily accommodated our needs as we were in four.

The location was ideal as we were able to take advantage of the opera , Aida, in Orange in the sublime Roman Theatre on a balmy evening. Possibly the highlight of the trip. Day trips to Rousillion, Goult, Lacoste, Orange ended with several visits to the local restaurant where we really engaged in the non touristy side of a town like Sarrians as it had a true local feel to it. At other times we used the well equipped kitchen of the Villa. A couple of the local cafes started our day with the traditional coffee and croissant or baguette.

The only regrets I have are that we did not stay longer and that we did not have more friends or family stay as the property could have easily accommodated them.

Vive Villa Vanesse!

How fortunate we were to find your lovely villa on..

How fortunate we were to find your lovely villa online. We didn’t know at the time, but could only hope, that we had found the ideal villa in the small French town we were seeking. We were not disappointed.

Villa Vanesse has the appearance of a well-maintained French country home, but with the benefit of an Americanized kitchen, laundry room, pool and computer access. Spacious bedrooms with baths provided privacy. Dinner on the patio by the pool brought relaxation at the end of days visiting Roman ruins and other interesting sights.

We appreciated the very helpful and comprehensive information about local markets, restaurants and nearby points of interest. We hope we will have the opportunity to return to the lovely Villa Vanesse soon. It will be a pleasure for us to tell others of our delightful stay chez Astrid.

We loved staying here. We traveled with a family of 7, and Astrid did everything to accommodate us before and during our stay, down to setting up the beds the way we wanted them, and stocking the fridge with our favorite breakfast items.

The house is absolutely beautiful, and all recently remodeled. It's in a very quiet village in France, so there's no noise at night, and it's protected from onlookers with big bushes.

The village (Sarrians) has a nice little market on some days of the week, a few good bakeries and pastry shops, and is also within a couple miles of a huge grocery store for stocking up.

The house overall is just a very nice experience - it's immaculately clean, the kitchen is fully stocked (we cooked in most nights, so we had everything we needed), there's a good espresso machine, the pool is just a wonderful reprieve from the heat, and the garden is expertly landscaped with lavender, trees, grasses and flowers.

There's also a washing machine and dryer for laundry.

There's lots to do nearby - wineries and grapes everywhere, Orange, Carpentras (eat at Chez Serge), Avignon are close and neat cities, the ocean is within two hours, and the nearby villages are spectacular. Also try the zip line adventures at Ventoux Aventures! Lots a fun and a nice change of pace.

Astrid was always pleasant to deal with and responses quickly.

Highly recommended property!

This house is perfect for everyone who wants a really luxurious base from which to explore or just wander around all those marvelous places in the Provence. We stayed at this idyllic villa last year and the year before and plan to spend time there again this coming September.

There are so many wonderful places to visit so close at hand. Apart from Avignon, with its fascinating history, we watched the grapes being crushed at Beaumes de Venise, visited the enormous Roman aqueduct at Pont du Gard and ate at some really delightful restaurants in the area. Our favorite is Le Jardin du Quai in the town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, which is a great place for just wandering around and has a “must not miss” market every Sunday morning.

We have such wonderful memories relaxing by the pool at Villa Vanesse in the evening, watching the Night Herons perched in the trees in the distance. Villa Vanesse is truly the ideal home from home for any visitor to the Provence.

A recommander.
