Discovering Mas du Moulin d’Astruc is discovering treasure for us. Set amongst natural beauty that unfolds as you take the time stop, look around at the scenery and discover the local walks and wildlife and Nick and Jenny’s animals.

The description of the property is accurate. This family has created an environment that delivers everything we needed and more: spacious comfortable and well equipped accommodation that blends into the country feel perfectly. The pool is a delight, especially after a hot day. We loved the Bergerie – a beautiful, traditional country gite. It was cool inside on a hot day with plenty of room in the secluded garden to relax or sun bathe.

What a difference the hosts make to a holiday. Nick and Jenny are friendly and very helpful, but in no way intrusive, allowing us to feel truly away from it all and yet only a 5 minute drive away from the supermarket in Quissac.

Will we visit more than once? That’s a yes from me (Paul) and Pat.

What a great place this is for a holiday if you want to experience the true Languedoc Roussillon. We had the perfect week on this tranquil and beautiful mas and were enchanted with the area and the region. If you like striking scenery with vineyards, rivers, mediaeval villages and Roman towns all framed by the magnificent Cevennes then you will love this! We did! The delightful owners of the mas, Jenny and Nick, could not be more welcoming or helpful and we were immediately at home in our lovely farmhouse gite with its very French style and rustic appeal. There is an inviting pool surrounded by bamboo and secreted in the meadow around which the gites are individually located - with a fabulous view to the Cevennes as a backdrop. We visited the closeby (within easy walking distance on a quiet and gentle stroll along the river) mediaeval village of Sauve which has a number of excellent restaurants with stunning views over a river and also the equally close village of Quissac which had a proper French market.

This was a dissapointing stay in this gite which required general updating to reflect the price of the holiday. More essentials should be provided e.g washing powder, kitchen foil etc, no extra charges for cleaning should be required if this has already been done before leaving the gite. The swimming pool is tastefully positioned in the garden and is well maintained.

We have stayed at Mas d'Astruc in 1997, 1999, 2011, 2012, 2013 (twice) and have booked again for this year. We love the peace and quiet and relaxing atmosphere of this rural gite. The owners make you feel very welcome and are on hand to answer any queries and change the gas bottles for cooking.

After a hot day out it is a pleasure to come back to the beautifully maintained pool and cool down.

Despite its location in the countryside, 2 villages are only 5 minutes away by car, with shops and supermarkets for all our needs.

There is easy access to the mountains of the Cevennes to the north, and the Mediterranean and the Camargue to the south, as well as historic towns and villages.
