Stunning Castillonnes Holiday Farmhouse Rental with barn in Lot-et-Garonne, Aquitaine Reviews

Wow! what a great holiday. there were 14 of us staying in the 2 properties with a pool. 2 grandparents, 6 middle age(ish) parents and 6 children ranging from 6 to 13 years old - all from the Bristol area in the UK.

The facilities were ideal for us - plenty of space, eating together outside all the time, comfortable and well equipped properties, ample bedrooms and a fantastic pool area with stunning views. The pool was a huge hit with everyone - we really appreciated the comfy sun beds, the pool house and the beer fridge (you can't beat a cold pool-side beer on a hot day).

Keven & Liz were outstanding hosts - they made us welcome immediately, showed us around the houses and were always available to help in anyway they could (Thanks for getting the flat tyre fixed for us Keven - that was greatly appreciated and meant we were able to get on with our day without having to call upon a breakdown service - or drive to a garage). We also had a great "party night" with Keven & Liz - sharing more than a few stiories over more than a few glasses of wine.

The area is also fabulous - plenty of wonderful bastides, a few chateaus, usual markets and not too far from Dordoigne (we did the compulsory canoe/kayak down the river - another great day out!).

We didn't travel around as much as we used to in France - because the accommodation and pool were so good - it was an ideal place for our whole family, all ages, and we enjoyed every minute there. We'd love to go back again and recommend Fon Du Bourg very highly indeed.

The photographs of this property simply don't do it it justice! The location is excellent, very much in the country but only a couple of miles from Castillonnes which has most facilities, and about 10 miles from Eymet with even more. The views from the pool terrace are of stunning countryside all around. The properties are a delight, loads of room, sparkling clean, and well equipped. the owners are close enough to be helpful and friendly but not so close that you are being "watched"! We had half of our family in these properties (12 people in all) and they all loved their stay here. The owners, Liz and Kevin, couldn't have been more helpful and were great fun to have around. We would highly recommend both the properties and the location for almost everyone. Due to the location of the pool on a slope above the houses, this property might not be suitable for some disabled people, but my 83 year old father in law managed without any difficulty.

The property is within easy travelling distance of Sarlat, Domme, Bergerac, and Monpazier to name a few. There are countless things to do nearby, we went horseriding a couple of times, the stables are about 6 miles away and the owners very friendly and helpful, and they don't mind if you haven't ridden before. Canoeing on the Dordogne was great fun, tennis courts can be found in Lauzun, about 3 miles away, and there is plenty of space around the property for other activities. The BBQ was very well used and we mostly ate outdoors. There was plenty of seating and loungers for everyone around the pool, so no hassles there.

Overall 9.5/10. We would highly recommend this property and are very likely to book it again if we are back in the area.
