'LES JONQUILLES' 11 Rue Auguste Poulain, 41400, PONTLEVOY, FRANCE
The cottage is called "Les Jonquilles", it is an old stone house, beautifully restored, on one level . There are 6 rooms among them 2 bedrooms; one is a more spacious one with 2 large comfortable beds and rustic furniture. The shower room has just been renovated and modernized (separate WC). Other rooms include a comfortable living room/TV room, and a well-furnished dining room. The kitchen with high and wooden cupboards is traditional. The spacious cottage is suitable for a couple alone feeling very much ‘at home’ or a couple with their children or a couple willing to share the cottage with a few guest friends. It is a tiled floor except for the large bedroom. The windows, outside doors and the rustic shutters although modern are made of high quality PVC. You have two outside doors offering an independent access to the terrace. You will find in a file a bilingual documentation( French & English ) dealing with household appliances, utensils, recommendations, useful vocabulary lists. A second file gathers more detailed information and proposes14 different illustrated itineraries to suggest ideas and provide routes for your outings. There is a paved terrace laid out in front of the cottage which overlooks a courtyard covered with pebbles. You can eat, read, rest, relax, sunbathe or enjoy the quiet evening atmosphere admiring the starry sky and the night-birds. You can stroll in the owner’s garden located behind the cottage, admiring the flowers. If you are interested in learning or re-learning French, the owner, a French native with a wealth of teaching experience abroad offers tailor-made lessons whatever your level and your needs, help and advice together with a translation service should you were interested in house-hunting.

C'est une maison ancienne en pierre, magnifiquement restaurée et de plain-pied ( un seul niveau). Il y a 6 pièces et parmi elles 2 chambres; l'une d'elle est un plus spacieuse offrant 2 grands lits confortables et un mobilier rustique. La salle de douche a été rénovée et modernisée ( WC séparé ). Il y a un salon confortable équipé d'un poste de télévision et une salle à manger très bien meublée. La cuisine, très traditionnelle et typique du milieu rural, est bien équipée et a de grands placards en bois. Le gîte spacieux est idéal et convient parfaitement à un couple seul, un couple avec des enfants ou encore un couple désireux de partager le gîte avec quelques amis. Il y a partout du carrelage sauf pour la grande chambre. Les fenêtres, les portes extérieures et les volets rustiques bien que modernes sont en PVC de haute qualité. Vous avez deux portes extérieures offrant un accès indépendant à la terrasse. Vous trouverez dans un classeur une documentation bilingue ( français et anglais ) se rapportant aux appareils ménagers, aux ustensiles, des conseils et des listes de vocabulaire pratiques et utiles. Un second classeur rassemble des informations plus détaillées et propose 14 itinéraires différents et illustrés de cartes et de photos pour suggérer des idées de sorties, vous inspirer et fournir aussi des possibilités d'itinéraires. Il y a une terrasse pavée et aménagée devant la maison qui donne sur une cour couverte de petits cailloux. Vous pouvez manger, lire, vous reposer, vous détendre, bronzer ou profiter de l'ambiance tranquille de la soirée en admirant le ciel étoilé et les oiseaux nocturnes. Vous pourrez vous promener dans le jardin du propriétaire situé derrière le gîte, en admirant les fleurs, les plantes, les insectes et les oiseaux. Si vous vous intéressez au français comme à l'anglais pour apprendre ou perfectionner une de ces langues, le propriétaire, français d'origine mais bilingue, qui a une grande expérience de l'enseignement à l'étranger, offre des cours privés quel que soit votre niveau et encore vos besoins. There are fine parks and pretty gardens all around the village which can be visited by riding a bicycle or by car. In a radius of 43 miles, PONTLEVOY has plenty of great activities. It is situated in the very heart of the chateau district and therefore most cities or places of interest are within easy reach and on top of that it is a bonus as you save a lot on petrol.
You can visit craftsmen and some artists at work, attend concerts, ( there is a classical music festival in the village in July or August ), be the witness of local celebrations or visit festivals with parades and pageantry taking place during the Summer season ( such as July 14th ) to taste wine and sample local produces ( red , white , rosé wines, CRÉMAN DE LOIRE ( good quality sparkling wine), cheese, 'rillettes' ( sort of pork potted meat ). In the village there are many things to see including a wine cellar and a cheese farm. Within 12 miles there are so many sporting and leisure activities to do including swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing on RIVER CHER or RIVER LOIRE, playing golf, squash, tennis, practicing horse-hiding, enjoying a paint-ball game, walks through the fields or the forests etc...Tennis lessons and horse–riding lessons are taught in the village and very close to Pontlevoy you can learn and practice sailing, kayak, canoeing activities. With so many sporting or leisure activities offered to you everyone can be happy, overjoyed because children, teenagers and adults have a lot of choices and can spend a lovely time out.
