The Château – Holiday Accommodation in Haute-Marne, France

Situated around 650 km from Amsterdam, the Château enjoys a peaceful setting in the charming village of Beaucharmoy, nestled within a picturesque valley on the edge of the Langres Plateau. This beautiful region, known for its rolling countryside, forests and natural springs, is where several important French rivers, including the Meuse, Marne and Aube, begin their journey. It is an ideal destination for walkers, cyclists and anyone seeking an authentic rural escape.

A Peaceful Countryside Setting

Surrounded by a patchwork of deciduous woodland, open fields and quiet country lanes, the area offers a true sense of tranquillity. Wildlife is abundant, and evening walks often provide opportunities to spot roe deer, foxes and a variety of birdlife. The famous Champagne vineyards and the renowned Burgundy wine region can both be reached within approximately one hour by car.

The Château

A beautifully restored late-medieval residence that remained in noble ownership until the French Revolution. Over the centuries, various additions were made to the property, creating the elegant blend of architectural styles seen today. The château has been carefully renovated, preserving its historic character while incorporating modern comforts throughout.

Occupying a stunning position on the edge of the village, the château is surrounded by open countryside. Beyond the entrance gates, guests can step directly into the surrounding fields and forests.

The Gîte Accommodation

The holiday accommodation is located within the château's renovated right wing. Original features and period charm have been preserved, while modern facilities have been discreetly integrated behind antique doors and traditional architecture.

Outside, guests have access to a private terrace with barbecue facilities and a spacious section of the grounds reserved exclusively for their use. Garden furniture, a table tennis table and a pond create a relaxing outdoor environment, while views extend across the surrounding countryside and the resident Frisian horses.

The self-contained gîte accommodates between 2 and 8 guests and benefits from its own private entrance. Bright and spacious throughout, the ground floor centres around a magnificent 85m² "Great Hall" featuring a wood-burning stove, fireplace and open-plan kitchen.

The property offers modern conveniences including Wi-Fi and a fully equipped kitchen with gas hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, microwave, food processor and a comprehensive selection of cooking equipment expected in a quality holiday home.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

The gîte offers three generously sized double bedrooms, each furnished with comfortable beds and high-quality linens. Every bedroom benefits from its own private marble-finished bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet.

The largest bedroom can also accommodate additional sleeping arrangements for children, making the property ideal for families.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Located just 15 minutes from Exit 8 (Montigny-le-Roi) of the Autoroute du Soleil near Langres, the château is perfectly positioned for a stopover or longer stay. Within minutes of leaving the motorway, guests are immersed in the peace and natural beauty of the Haute-Marne countryside. The surrounding valley forms part of the Natura 2000 protected network and lies close to one of the sources of the River Meuse.

The Bed & Breakfast accommodation is situated within the oldest section of the château. The elegant "Chambre du Châtelain" occupies the first floor and features a beautiful four-poster bed along with a private bathroom opposite the room, complete with bath, shower, washbasin and WC.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the château, and breakfast is served each morning between 8:30am and 10:30am.

Dining

Guests may also enjoy the château's table d'hôte dining experience, available by prior reservation on Tuesdays and Fridays. Dinner is served in a convivial atmosphere and includes a starter, main course, cheese selection, dessert and coffee. Meals are generally served from 7:30pm onwards, providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy local cuisine and hospitality.

Check-in is available between 5:00pm and 9:30pm on the day of arrival.

Please note that smoking is not permitted anywhere within the château buildings.
