Chalet du Bastan is a large comfortable self catered chalet in the village of Barèges that sleeps up to 20 people. It is situated in the Domaine du Tourmalet ski area, the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees. It is also a perfect base from which to enjoy the varied walking the Pyrenees has to offer, including the famous GR10 route which spans the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, and passes through the village. The Tour de France goes right past the chalet door, and you can watch from the terrace as the riders pass, on their way to tackle the infamous Col du Tourmalet, 10 km further up the mountain. The chalet is available for both weekly and weekend periods throughout the year.
ACCOMMODATION:
The chalet is large and comfortable and sleeps up to 20 people. We have spent the spring refurbishing it, and have created a large relaxed seating area with an open fire. There is a dining room which seats up to 20 people and a brand new well equiped fully fitted kitchen with a large gas/electric range, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
There are seven bedrooms spread over the top and bottom floors. The top floor sleeps seven, and is ideal for families. The five bedrooms on the lower floor are comprised of 2 double bedded rooms, one twin bedded room, one room with a double and single bed and a room with four bunk beds, all suitable for adults.
The chalet has a brand new heating system, with plenty of hot water for the two bath/shower rooms. There are two self contained toilets.
There is also a large secure area downstairs for skis, boots and bicycles, accessible from the parking area outside the chalet.
The terrace at the front is perfect for eating or just relaxing, and watching the world go by. The chalet also has ample parking space for up to 5 cars.

Barèges is one of the best kept secrets in the Pyrenees; a friendly unspoilt village with access to the biggest ski area in the region, the Tourmalet area. The wide selection of pistes are well maintained and cater to all abilities from absolute beginners to all-mountain skiers seeking the thrill of deep powder and challenging slopes, and due to the high investment made in snow making equipment, there is always the chance of fantastic snow.
The Pyrenees often have more snow than the Alps because their closeness to the sea, and because it is further south, there are many glorious bright sunny days, creating perfect ski conditions.
Our chalet is situated just outside the village centre, a ten minute walk away, where you will find several friendly restaurants serving traditional Pyrenean food. There are also some great bars, which cater to all tastes and ages.
