The accommodation of this charming 16th Century, beautifully restored 3 storey stone house rental comprises of an open plan kitchen/dining/living area with fully fitted kitchen, a large stone fireplace, and original wooden beams. The 1st floor of the property consists of two double bedrooms, a bathroom and toilet, and the 2nd floor attic is open plan. There is a south facing patio catches the sun all day. A separate utility room features a washing machine and second toilet.
The village of Lanquais boasts two medieval chateaux, the historic Chateau de Lanquais, open to the public, which sits on a hill overlooking the village and the Lac du Lanquais, and the privately owned Chateau LaRoque. Guests of the property can explore the lake, only a few minutes walk, which offers visitors a variety of activities such as swimming, boating, picnicking and other leisure activities. There is a lifeguard on duty at peak times, water shutes and a snack bar. Golfers have the choice of 4 good courses within easy reach. The village is surrounded by beautiful woodland, offering numerous forest walks and cycle paths. Canoeing down the Dordogne and Vezere rivers is popular, and canoes can be hired locally. The wild Atlantic beaches just west of Bordeaux can be reached in just over 2 hours, and the Pyrenees for walking and climbing. The property would make the ideal base for guests wishing to venture into trips to Northern Spain. Lanquais lies on one of the world famous pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela for guests interested in walking trips.
The village is close to all amenities, and to the larger centres of Bergerac, Perigueux and Bordeaux and is 20 minutes (15 km) from Bergerac airport, accessed from several airports in the UK. It is ideal for exploring the beautiful Dordogne, Vezere and Lot valleys, and for visiting the vineyards of Bergerac, Bordeaux and Cahors, and the historic towns of St Emilion and Sarlat.
Farmers and craft markets take place morning at Beaumont (Wednesday), Lalinde (Thursday), Le Buisson (Friday), Bergerac (Saturday) and Issigeac (Sunday). The nearest vineyard is only 7km away (St Aubin de Lanquais). The village boasts an excellent restaurant , and other good restaurants can also be found locally in Couze, St Capraise, Tuilleres, Lalinde, Beaumont, Bergerac and Tremolat.
