If you are in way concerned that the last review of this property was a few years back now - I can assure you that there is no reason to be worried. My family and I also stayed for two very relaxing weeks this July but we had to wait almost two years for the privilege to do this as a number of regulars go back year after year - and I can certainly understand why!! The house is smack bang in the middle of the village but there is very little street noise to disturb your stay. The pool was a delight for relaxing in both in the morning and in the evenings. All the rooms are very tastefully decorated and our sons also appreciated the excellent wi-fi. Food shopping is very easy and we had some excellent take away pizzas from the establishment just round the corner. The house is only a 15 to 20 minute drive to the very pretty town of Minerve where we went a couple of times. Because the house is so comfortable it was hard to motivate ourselves to visit other places as we just fell into the habit of reading and generally relaxing outside in the garden.

As you can see from the calendar the house gets booked up at least a year in advance but if you can wait that long you will not be disappointed!!

My husband and I just returned from spending two whole weeks at this very delightful house. The pictures are accurate but in fact, the house is better than the pictures. It is quiet and private and very well and tastefully furnished. It is, also, very well equipped - having come from five weeks on the road, we were not keen to continue eating all our meals in restaurants so we ended up cooking some dinners as well as preparing most of our lunches and breakfasts. The kitchen is not only nice to look at but very well equipped for cooking full meals.

We had our adult daughter join us for a long weekend from London and the bedroom/bathroom set up is ideal for families or two couples with plenty of space, large closets and good sized bathrooms as well. An extra bonus is the fact there is a clothes washer and dryer. A lovely surprise was that the linens and towels were changed half way through our stay.

The village is very quiet except for the Tuesday market which is a wonderful source of fresh food of all kinds. The location also works well for day visits to pretty much all major Langedouc and Roussilon sites including Carcassonne, Narbonne, Perpignan, and a whole variety of little villages, abbeys, castle ruins, beach towns etc. as well, of course, as the Canal du Mid.

There are a couple of very decent restaurants within easy walking distance (the Bel Minervois and O'Portail) and we found an excellent restaurant in a small town just two km's away in Homps.

Our only difficulty is that the garage, while very handy to have, has a rather awkward entry to it made that much more awkward by the way in which cars nearby park. We usually parked on the street and walked in but we had made the mistake of renting a largish car (not large by North American standards) so rent as small a car as you can get by with and this will not be a problem.

The owner was easy to contact and very responsive though in fact we had no difficulties or problems at all. There is a land line for use and good strong WIFI, both very much appreciated.

We have rented houses and townhouses in a variety of jurisdictions over the past 10 years or so and this one was certainly one of the more delightful and well equipped houses.

6 Grand Rue is all that it that it is said to be. It has been remodeled & decorated to a high standard. Comfortable & relaxing. It was hard for us to comprehend that portions of the home are 1,000 years old!

Although the weather conspired to deprive us of the courtyard from time to time, we were able to enjoy several al fresco meals. The two hour mid-day meal w/ wine became our norm quite easily. What a splendid space! The pool is unheated & the cool weather didn't allow us the opportunity to use it.

Olonzac is a nice quiet village that lends itself to easy relaxation. The boulangerie is 100 meters away--much to convenient to walk over in the morning to get fresh croissants for breakfast. The farmer's market is literally outside the entrance--we had to walk through a stall to get outside. The selection of foods is is fabulous!

We had a wonderful time exploring the Minervois & drinking many bottles of the local wine. We stumbled across a fine winery named Tourril. The vintner, Mr Martinez, gave us a private tour. Their wines are superb!

When we find ourselves in the Languedoc again, 6 Grand Rue will definitely be on our list of places to stay.

This house is just as great in person as it is in the photos ! My family loved this house and wanted for nothing. Well equiped, well decorated, comfy beds and Peter was great to work with. Our teenage daughter very much enjoyed the 3rd bedroom on the third floor with the extra sitting room. Was like her little get away. This house was a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing and with the time of year the fireplace was wonderful ! Would love to have been able to enjoy the outside dining area and pool. We would recommend this place to any family or group visiting the area.

We found this holiday home to be everything we needed for a relaxing break from the rat race in the UK. Olonzac is a great village with good facilities, we day tripped to Carcasonne easily and also to the south coast. It was a pleasure to come back here each evening and the courtyard is a delight.

We can fully recommend to anyone wanting a clean, lovingly restored, authentic French self catering holiday.
