Local Attractions
La Roderie is two kilometres from Abjat-sur-Bandiat, a village with two bars/restaurants, grocers and bakers. Other local restaurants range from auberges serving homemade local produce to restaurants renowned for their haute cuisine.
The town of Nontron, eight kilometres away, has supermarkets, a cinema, an indoor pool, restaurants and historic attractions.
An enjoyable two hours' drive will bring you to the scenic Dordogne River valley with its many historic towns and chateau. Also within easy reach are the picturesque abbey town of Brantôme on the Dronne river, where visitors can rent canoes.
Day trips can also be made to Bordeaux, the capital of France's wine industry, whose 18th century centre is particularly impressive. The town of Cognac is the location of the Remy Martin, Martell, and Hennessy brandy distilleries, all of which welcome visitors to take tours and sample the product. Limoges is traditionally the centre of porcelain making in France and is rich in medieval history.
The house is conveniently close to several airports, including Limoges, Bergerac, and Bordeaux, and the TGV station at Angoulême
