Piteou is a beautiful holiday home in the South West of France near Marciac, Gers. This dog friendly holiday home in the sun is the perfect place for a family getaway.
The house is in a beautiful rural setting, not close to any busy roads or disturbed by traffic other than the very occasional car or tractor.
The property can comfortably sleep 7 adults and 2 small children (one baby sized in a cot).
Accommodation:
The living space is very large, light and airy. Furnished with comfortable sofas, a dining table and chairs. There is a TV with both French and English television. The wood-burning stove is a wonderful addition in the winter. There are books, games and a table tennis table for outside on the terrace.
A modern fitted kitchen is well appointed, with electric oven and microwave and a gas hob. It has a fridge and a dishwasher. There is also a child’s high chair.
The house has 3 double bedrooms, one downstairs and two upstairs. Downstairs the bedroom opens up onto the terrace and has a double bed, fitted wardrobes and an en suite bathroom with toilet, bath and walk in shower.
Upstairs, there are two large bedrooms one with a king-size bed, a child’s camping cot and a child’s bed. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and both rooms share a Jack and Jill Bathroom, which has a toilet, shower and sink.
There is a utility room with a washing machine, freezer and downstairs toilet.
Outside there is a large private shaded terrace with a table and chairs beneath it. A small Weber BBQ is provided. The garden is fenced completely. There is also a large plunge pool with sun loungers.

Piteou is ideally located near Marciac and a range of wonderful restaurants and eateries that showcase the region’s wonderful wine and local produce.
The Gers is full of things to do. There are weekly markets in at least 3 small towns nearby every week, where fresh produce from local farms is freely available. There are many lovely local wines and the Gers boasts the healthiest wine in the world: ‘Madiran’, a rich red wine that you can taste in the local vineyards. It is the home of duck and Armagnac.
For the more energetic there is a beautiful golf course that welcomes casual visitors at Chateau Pallanne (www.chateaugolfdepallanne.fr). Also, Auch has a golf course at Embats (www.golf-auch-embats.com).
Eating out in the local area is varied and ranges from simple to sophisticated. Bassoues has a charming restaurant under the eaves of the market, it offers cheap French cuisine and loads of ambience.
There are nearby lakes for fishing and you can also enjoy water-skiing, sailing and windsurfing. There is one such lake just a few kilometres away, where there are canoes and pedaloes for hire. The countryside is perfect for walking and biking. The Pyrenees are about an hour and a half away, where the mountains offer white water rafting, stunning walking and scenery.
In winter of course, the skiing is excellent in many resorts within the Pyrenees, with St. Lary Soulan around 90 minutes’ drive away.
Marciac is very close and for 2/3 weeks from the end of July into August has one of the largest Jazz Festivals in Europe, with some of the world’s finest musicians visiting every year.

For the lovers of culture there are classical concerts in many local villages most of the year and St Bertrand de Commiges is host to classical concerts throughout the months of July and August.
There are various other festivals in Auch, Condom, Fleurance and Vic Fesensac from June to September.
