We stayed 1 week in autumn 2008 at "the cottage" and found a tastefully and functionally equipped, tidy and comfortable place, which simply can be described as the best holiday home we had rented in Brittany so far.

The place is ideal for a couple (maybe with a young kid). If you plan to stay with more than two persons, you might want to know, that there is no door between sleeping room (upstairs) and living room (downstairs with the couche).

The host lives on the same ground and helpfully supplied us with fire-wood, which was very welcome during a rather cold week. Wireless internet was a nice addition.

A really nice place to stay - if you bring your car or a lot of good books!

A beautiful cottage set amidst rural surroundings - exactly as described in the details. Adequately equipped and very clean despite us arriving early (as agreed) and the cottage being occupied the week before. The owners, who lived next door, were available if required but otherwise were completely unobtrusive and didn't encroach upon or holiday at all. This is the perfect place to unwind and relax - it was a pity the weather was not better. We could really have done with 2 weeks because there is so much to see and do in the surrounding areas which we crammed into 6 days! Despite this though the harbours were fantastic to wander around, the bars and restaurants were very accomodating, the beaches fantastic and very clean and the people that we met were very understanding when we used our pidgen French to ask for anything. A car is a must, but for example when we went to St. Malo we found a courtesy bus giving free travel into the old city which was very helpful. All in all it was a great week and thanks go to Janet and Michael for allowing us to share their super property. Hope to visit again. From Sue and Dave.

Spent a week at Crec'h Mordo in a beautifully restored and well equiped gite. A wonderful, peaceful holiday location in beautiful countryside only 5 minutes from Pontrieux. We will be returning as soon as possible.

Whether you are looking for a romantic break or a family holiday, this is the place to be! The Cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, everything you need and more. The bed is very comfortable and our daughter loved the sofabed downstairs. Having a bath is always a bonus as not everyone likes just a shower when on holiday. The woodburner gave out loads of heat in the evening when the temperature dipped, (it was April!), thanks to Mick for the wood! My husband loved it so much he is planning to install one in our house!

The surroundings are picturesque and quiet, but with enough bustle in nearby Pontrieux and Paimpol if you need it. Market day on Tuesday in Paimpol is a must, especially, if like my husband, you adore fresh seafood! The Intermarche in Pontrieux is big enough for everything you need without being daunting like some of the bigger supermarkets we have been to in France. The Breton Gateau is a must!

Eating out is great, too. The Schooner down by the Port is great for snacks, the kids loved it and it was great to sit outside in the sunshine, munching kebabs and watching the boats. For a more upmarket, romantic meal, Paimpol has many superb fish restaurants by the harbour which also do a good steak!

The beaches are all just a short, scenic drive away. Anyone who has ever been to Devon and Cornwall around 30 years ago will feel right at home in the villages which you pass through and the scenery you will see on the way. Brehec is just like a Cornish village, and Pont Blanc has the most perfect sand, ideal for building sandcastles!

The owners have just the right mix of helpfulness and information. There if you need anything, but not in the way. Their kids were great and certainly helped ours feel at home.

All in all an excellent holiday destination and we thoroughly recommend it!

We stayed at the Longere for a week, and wished it were more. The property was as described, clean and well maintained, with plenty of land for children to enjoy. The welcome bottle of wine was also a nice touch!

We found the owners welcoming, friendly, and helpful, with lots of good advice on the local area.

The location was perfect for expolring the beautiful coastline, the port at Paimpol, the pink granite coast and the many sandy beaches which are perfect for children. Pontrieux is also a stunning town, well worth spending time in amongst the locals, flowers and wine.

As a family we loved it, and look forward to hopefully returning again.

A great holiday home - clean, comfortable und well-appointed. Great for families, as the huge estate offers lots of space for playing. The house is situated in a quite area, nevertheless the supermarket in the picturesque town of Pontrieux can be reached in 5 minutes by car.

The hosts are very heartily. They are native english speakers and have great hints for trips and activities. We would come back for a holiday at any time!

We knew as soon as we walked into the cottage we were going to enjoy our holiday. Our hosts were there to welcome us with various goodies laid out for us. They were very helpful in explaining everything to us, telling us interesting places to visit etc. they were always there if you needed them but never intrusive.

The cottage was delightful, in decoration, privacy, and so well equipped. Very clean and airy, with doors and windows everywhere you were surrounded by large beautiful gardens. The patio area was very private and looked onto well maintained gardens. The photographs of the cottage are quite correct, but do not give the ambience or how tranquil the setting is.

The base, The Cottage, is very close to Pontrieux by car, couple of minutes. there is a very good supermarket with in a couple minutes from the giite with good supplies and petrol. The walk into Pontrieux is within walking distance. All other sightseeing places were with a very short distance by car and easy to find. In fact it was very central to almost everywhere you wanted to go.

It was a perfect base which turned out to be a perfect holiday and we would definitely return.

Thank you Janet and Michael you have a lovely holiday giite.

My wife and I stayed in the smaller of the two cottages last week Sept - 1st week Oct 2014.

The cottages are set in a beautiful location just outside the picturesque village of Pontrieux.

We found Janet and Mick to be very welcoming and friendly but not intrusive. On arrival we were pleasantly happy to find a hamper of the essentials and a bottle of wine.

Although we were in the smaller of the two cottages this was more than adequate for the two of us and our small dog. The cottage was clean well furnished and nicely decorated in a "country' style. It is fully equipped with all one would need for a self catering holiday. The log burner is a very nice touch and Mick kept us fully stocked with logs. That made it nice, warm and cosy in the chilly evenings. Both my wife and I slept very well.

Crec'h Mordo is ideally situated to explore the surrounding area. The rugged granite coast, some fantastic beaches, ports, towns and villages are all within 20 to 30 min drive. Both Janet and Mick know the area well and give good tips on places to see, markets to visit etc. Or one can simply relax in the large well kept garden........

All in all we enjoyed it very much and extended our stay longer than planned. We would not hesitate to go back.

It was like coming home. ..it was exactly as we remembered, peaceful, welcoming, clean, fresh, comfortable. There were the welcoming goodies, we were lucky sun was shining and did so for the next 14 days apart from one day, which we used as a rest day. There is so much to see in such a short distance from our base. We saw new and wonderful places and returned to some new and favourite places. As before Janet and Michael were there if we needed them but were not intrusive in any way. They reminded of us places and market days that mIght be of interest.

It is so peaceful in the private garden area with wonderful well cared for gardens that you are able to stroll around. Yet the small town is only a few minutes by car, a wonderfully stocked supermarket, which is great to shop in, bars and restaurants and lovely river walks.

Already missing the ambience, the fantastic beaches, everything about it....great holiday gite, destination and owners of the lovely cottage ( gite). Well done Janet and Michael another lovely memorable holiday.

My partner and I stayed here for a week in July 2015. The Cottage was well equipped and comfortable, our hosts leaving not only useful leaflets but also some food essentials. Janet was happy to give us additional information about the area - best places to go to eat, swim and when the local markets were - as well as bikes and a badminton set. Situated within a 5-min drive of Pontrieux, which is a pretty town with several restaurants, boulangeries and a good supermarket. In July the steam train wasn't running - the only disappointment of the holiday. Crec'h Mordo is within a half-hour drive of the dramatic coastline - good for clean beaches, interesting rock formations and lovely seafood restaurants. Overall, it was a lovely restful holiday, combining rural calm with coastal beauty.
