Trévenec is ideally situated for visiting the moorland, forests, lakes and villages of the Regional Park of Armorique, the wonderful beaches of the north, west and south coasts of Brittany, a wide range of attractive French towns and villages and a host of other attractions such as chateaux, country crafts and also sporting and leisure sites for old and young alike.

A Remarkable New Heritage Attraction - The Valley of the Saints
In late 2009 Carnoet won a contest to be the site of the most important heritage programme in Brittany this century, the Valley of the Saints. There are now 60 3 metre high granite statues of Breton saints at the wonderfully atmospheric hill-top site next to the ancient chapel of Saint Gildas. This is a must-see attraction!

Callac - Capital of Argoat
Callac is a typical small French market town about 10-15 minutes away, with a large market square which resounds every Wednesday market day to the chatter of farmers, townspeople, villagers and visitors. Everything is sold from ducklings to duvets and artichokes to anchovies! The town also boasts local shops, including a wonderful shop selling everything from ornamental light fittings to hunting gear, and a really good Intermarché hypermarket plus a Casino supermarket. It also has a very attractive lake and nature reserve, with excellent walking. And, if you want to find the local English community, there is an English café!

Carhaix Plouguer
Carhaix Plouguer is the largest town in the vicinity and is about 15 minutes away. Another lovely French town with old Breton houses lining the streets of the town centre, with a market and a range of shops plus some excellent restaurants. Since it was once a Roman town, nearby are the remains of the Roman aqueduct and the Nantes-Brest Canal offers wonderful walks and bicycle rides. The town has lots of shops, bars, restaurants and street cafés, pharmacies and the local hospital. The Leclerc hypermarket on the edge of the town towards Callac has a very reasonable cafeteria. The town is also the location of the famous Vielles Charrues pop festival every year.

Carnoet - Our Nearest Village
Carnoet is about 5 minutes away on the road up from Callac. It is a typical French village with a post office, small but well-stocked local supermarket and a couple of bars. Will become the village of the Valley of the Saints Heritage Site.

Chateauneuf de Faou
Chateauneuf de Faou is an attractive tourist centre overlooking a lovely river valley south of Carhaix. Has a variety of canoe, swimming and other riverside attractions and is close to one of the major chateaux of the region, the Domaine de Trévarez.

Guérlesquin
Guérlesquin a beautiful petite cité de caractère with a lovely centre and very attractive gardens, best seen on market day (Monday), there is a plan d’eau nearby with a small beach for swimming.

Huelgoat
Huelgoat is a tourist town on the edge of the Armorique Regional Park about 15-20 minutes away. It is renowned for the mysterious giant granite rocks in the river valley known as the Chaos, for the forests with their wonderful walks nearby and for the old silver mines nearby. There is also a lake near the town centre, a delightful market square with cherry trees, and beautiful countryside on all sides! This is also a good place to eat, with one of the oldest crêperies in Brittany.

Lannion
Lannion is another large riverside town with old houses towards the coast in the direction of the Rose Granite Coast and Perros-Guirec about 25 miles away. Another large market on Thursdays.
