We found Amboise an excellent base for visiting the
Loire, and the Loceys' cottage, both atmospheric and
practical, was a delightful choice for 3 weeks in May
and June. Our sons and their wives joined us for a
week each and we all enjoyed the profusion of roses,
irises, poppies and (toward the end) the cherry tree!

The lovely home, just outside of Amboise, was beautifully and comfortably appointed with all of the comforts of home. The location is great for historic daytrips to the Loire Valley Chateaux. and Amboise is a charming old town, with much history, great restaurants and shopping. The Friday and Sunday markets are exceptional.
The attention to detail at the home make the vacation extra special. I hope to be able to return for a repeat of our wonderful experience.
The house was spotless and I would highly recommend this to friends. We have rented in France before, and this has been our best experience.

We have been remiss in writing this review, but the over six months that have passed since our stay at Le Clos have not in any way dimmed our fond recollection. The cottage had plenty of room for our family of two adults and two teenagers. The listing is completely accurate (although we have no idea if the TV or DVD player worked because we were having far too much fun in Amboise and the surrounding area to ever turn them on) and the property is in excellent shape--you'd never know it is as old as it is. Lenita and Michael were helpful both before our stay (their list of things to do and places to eat is great) and with a couple of emailed questions during our stay. We loved the cottage and loved Amboise (don't miss the market) and used it as a home base to visit many of the chateaus in surrounding towns. What a wonderful place!

We throughly enjoyed this country cottage. The rooms were very charming and comfortable. If you want a relaxing vacation, this is the place for you. You couldn't ask for a better kitchen with all the amenities. The stairs were interesting but doable. It was quite nice to have two bathrooms. The grounds are pretty. We had a car and it was convenient to have a parking area for our use. We drove to the city center where there are an abundant amount of restaurants to choose from and it was easy to find a parking space at a reasonable price. There are two grocery stores that we used. The Chateau Amboise was a nice treat. We also drove to see the Chateau Chambord which is a must see. We did have a couple days of rain and just enjoyed staying at the cottage playing games and having a glass of wine. We would recommend this cottage to everyone, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I along with our son and daughter-in-law traveled from Paris on the train and rented a car in St Pierre de Corp. Even though we only speak English we got by just fine during our week stay. We found our way to le Clos de Locey without difficulty thanks to the very detailed instructions provided. The cottage's location is perfect for visiting the Loire River Valley. The many recommendations that the Locey's give for the area are spot on. The cottage is lovely and is surrounded by flowers and song birds galore. We adjusted very quickly to steps outside, stairs inside, and to a few places with low ceilings. The accommodations were the perfect French and old world experience. It was very clean, well maintained, and all the amenities listed were accurate. The kitchen is great, everything you would need is there including a wine bucket, which was put to use at most evening meals taken out on the patio or up in the sweet little vine covered gazebo on the hill. Amboise is a very vibrant little town and only 3 miles from the cottage. We enjoyed one evening meal at Chez Bruno on the main drag right below the Amboise Chateau. The Sunday Market along the river is amazing, everything from cooked meats, cheeses, breads, vegetables to table clothes and lawn mowers. Great fun. One day was spent on rented bicycles and an 8 miles trip to the fabulous Chenonceau Chateau. The Clos Luce with over 100 of de Vinci's engineering models on display is another must see. So many Chateau and so little time. Le Clos de Locey was the perfect place for our French vacation.

We had a wonderful time staying at Le Clos Locey Cottage just outside Amboise. The late June weather was warm and sunny during the day and delightfully cool at night. We loved having our own private garden and patio where we could enjoy sitting outside to plan our days, relax, read, or have an afternoon glass of wine with some cheese. The wisteria was blooming and the roses were beautiful. The suggestions we received for activities and restaurants were very helpful and the location of the cottage was perfect for getting around and doing the things we wanted to do. The time went too fast, however, and I wish we had stayed two weeks instead of just one.

Le Clos met all of our expectations as described in VRBO, and more! It had all of the amenities including washer and dryer, TV, internet, and the American owners were very helpful in our emails with them prior to arrival. The only tricky part was driving the car down to the area by the cottage where one parks. The photos accurately reflected the property which was most attractive, as well as clean and easy to use. There are over 200 wineries and chateaus in roughly a days drive, lovely walks through the countryside, bike rental is easily available in Amboise. The only problem we had was not enough time to enjoy all the opportunities.
