Welcome to Les Gites de Fontenioux situated in the heart of the Gatine countryside. Set in beautiful gardens, we offer two, three bedroom gites - Marguerite and Violette. Both can be booked separately accommodating up to 6 people, or together for larger groups - there is a connecting door that can be opened between the two. If booked together, guests have exclusive access to the heated pool and all outdoor dining spaces. Whether you are looking for a few days away, or an extended stay, Les Gites de Fontenioux is the place to relax, unwind and get away from it all.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Les Gites de Fontenioux is set just outside the small village of Vernoux-en-Gatine in the Poitou-Charentes region of France. The property is the old coach house and workers cottages for the Chateau de Fontenioux.
The unspoilt rural landscape surrounding the property make it ideal for walking, cycling and fishing. For the more adventurous, there are endless attractions in the surrounding area to suit all tastes. In Vernoux, just three minutes away by car, you will find a bar/restaurant, La Petite Noisette and an excellent boulangerie.

the villages of L'Absie and Secondigny can be found just ten minutes away, with bars, restaurants and shops. Parthenay and Fontenay le Comte, shrouded in history, are a mere thirty minute drive and well worth a visit.

We are also located an hour or so from two major theme park attractions, Puy du Fou and Futuroscope and an hour and a half from beautiful La Rochelle on the coast.

Our fully renovated gîtes, Violette & Marguerite, are converted from estate worker’s cottages, while still retaining the charm of a bygone era. Nature abounds on the property, which looks out over rolling fields, and encompasses part of the nearby forest. When we watch rabbits playing tag up and down our lane, deer trotting away when they see us, spot a wild orchid on the grass verge, or listen to the birds singing, we know this is a wonderful place to be, and we love to share this with our visitors.

Six bedrooms for up to twelve guests. Two double bedrooms and four twin. In Violette there is some flexibility: A single bed can be added to the double bedroom (to suit 11 single people). One pair of twin beds can be made up as a large double with zip-together mattresses (to suit 3 couples and 6 singles). All bedrooms have a wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus a mirror with power-point adjacent (with hair-dryer). all bedding supplied (king-size duvets on double beds). There are 4 shower-rooms, one on the ground-floor (handy after a swim). Each has: quadrant shower (choice of sprays), toilet, washbasin, heated towel rail, shaver-point. Baby baths available on request. Two generous towels per person supplied, also pool towels (for use in the pool area and grounds only). The ground-floor is two open plan living/dining rooms with kitchen area to the rear and a feature spiral staircase in Marguerite. Stair-gates are available on request. Each kitchen has: dishwasher, gas cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster utensils,crockery, T-towels, hand towel and oven mitts. The dining areas have table and six chairs. Highchairs on request. The living Rooms have a three piece suite and coffee table. 32″TV with UK channels. Small TV style DVD player plus a selection of English DVDs, books & games. Wood burning stove in each (free logs 1 October to 1 May). We suggest using Violette as a dining room and Marguerite as sitting room. Washing machines, irons, ironing boards, folding airers are provided plus outside covered drying area. Electric fans and oil-filled radiators in each bedroom. BBQ area with two charcoal BBQs. FREE WiFi
