The Best Kept Secret in Provence

We’ve had yet another unforgettable holiday in this wonderful, beautiful, idyllic spot. We’ve been spending our holidays here for the past few years because we have realised that we have now found the perfect house and location and there is no need to search elsewhere. Each year that we have returned, Tony and Marjie have carried out improvements and added additional items. We have always found them to be willing to listen to and act upon suggestions to make us and other guests comfortable and happy. It’s even beginning to feel like home now.

We love the silence, peace, space, seclusion and absolutely stunning views. The house is spacious and equipped to a high standard with lovely rooms and everything you could wish for, even items like electric juicers etc. and all sorts of other useful nick knacks, far more than the average rental property, and it’s almost worth going just for the amazing library. There are so many areas for relaxing that it’s always possible to find a nice quiet area if you prefer to have some time alone and masses of terrace space around the pool and the house. We’ve enjoyed so many wonderful barbeques at the poolside and very much appreciate Tony’s recommendations for buying local wines. Often, we look back, wishing we were there again hearing the sound of the cicadas and the fountain.

There are some charming hillside villages within easy reach with lots of activity at weekends. The communal village feasts are well worth trying – you will need to take your own cutlery and bread though! We will definitely be returning next year and we can recommend this little paradise without any hesitation at all. Thank you once again Tony and Marjie for your generosity and all the help you’ve given us.

A serendipitous discovery! The nearest thing to paradise that we’ve found anywhere. Privacy, tranquillity and a fantastic position on top of a hill with stunning views on three sides – and all that space to ourselves, even though it was only ten minutes to a wide choice of shops and restaurants.

We’ll never forget when we first arrived. Even before we got to the entrance there were amazing views across the hills to the left. Then the excitement of following the winding driveway through the trees to the house, when a view opened up over to the foothills and villages of Fayence and Mons. We knew straight away that we had made the right choice. And we weren’t disappointed when Tony and Marjie showed us round the house – far better equipped than other houses we’d rented, and everything you could possibly need had been thought of – including an amazing collection of English books on all sorts of subjects.

Thank you Tony and Marjie for being such wonderful hosts and sharing your local knowledge so freely.

La Pierre is set in a beautiful location and if peace and tranquility are required this is the place to go. We (two couples 58 - 64years) enjoyed long leisurely breakfasts on the terrace outside the kitchen and, similarly, evening barbecues stretching into the evenings.

Facilities are good, bathrooms very nice, plenty of space and lots to do. Books a plenty, table tennis, boules, the wonderful pool and gathering those delicious figs to put on the breakfast table every day.

All amenities are within 10 minutes drive and there are some lovely villages to visit. Don't drive to St Tropez get the ferry!!

Really our only criticism would be more towels please and make them softer!! Also a welcome bottle of wine etc would do wonders! Good hosts however and we would definitely visit again.

Just returned from a truly amazing stay at La Pierre, with all the family. We love this part of the world and returned in style after a long absence. Marje and Tony were around as needed, without being intrusive and they dealt with any minor problems that arose. Words can't describe the beauty of the Villa and its surroundings, the views just take your breath away, both early morning and at sunset. With perfect weather every day, we enjoyed (not so early) breakfasts under the Terrace near the kitchen and barbequing by the pool at night, with relaxing moments on the hammocks when shade was needed. Plenty of lovely restaurants nearby and evenings at the hilltop village 'fetes' were a wonderful experience, dancing with the locals, a million miles away from the touristy package deals. Theoule beach is old French style and 40 mins away, Lake St Cassien 15 minutes,Monte Carlo and Nice within the hour and Italy 1 and half hours drive, which we all tried, together with the younger ones trying a dive off the bridge at the Pont de Tuve. Local supermarkets provide a wealth of delicious French foods. We would recommend this Villa and all it has to offer for any age group. We all returned thorughly relaxed and 'chilled' after our wonderful holiday, which was a celebration for our 40th anniversary. Will definitely return.

We have spent 2 weeks here with 4 adults and 4 teenage children and it was a marvellous holiday. The location of the house and it´s grounds are second to none. From the swimming pool and the surrounding terrace you have beautiful sights in multiple directions and nothing really breaks a perfect image ( no neighbouring houses, just nature and views ). The house itself has everything you need for 8 people. No typical French underestimation, everything is really well suited for 8 people. The large library came as a nice extra :-). The area itself is very pleasant as you have a large number of really cosy villages within 10 minutes drive, a large lake and a bit further everything at the seaside ( which we only went to once... ).

So all-in-all, a great place to spend you precious holiday time !

Greetings from Belgium !

We visited this beautiful house in August 2008. There were three generations of our family on holiday and we all had the most wonderful time. The house is very well appointed, rooms are spacious and equipped with all you could want. It is a truly lovely home and everyone felt very relaxed staying there. The grounds are peaceful and so very beautiful and the pool was just perfect for all of us (especially our five year old). The surrounding area is stunning but we didn't venture very far because we were having such a lovely time staying in. Fayance is a beautiful village and has a wonderful boulangerie/patisserie where we bought bread and croissants everyday and the most delicious cake for a birthday celebration. The only downside I can possibly think of to our holiday was that we didn't book for two or more weeks! The owners are charming and welcoming and we thank them for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home. We will definitely return.

During the years we have rented several houses in Provence but this villa which we rented for one great week in August 2008 was without comparison the most wonderful and charming place we have stayed and we had a really fantastic holiday. All of the rooms were big and each had its own unique qualities. The villa had everything you could need and a few things beside and the area is lovely quiet and relaxing. The pool and garden are superb and from the large terrace there are beautiful views of the mountains. The owners were very welcoming and their restoration of the house and the property is excellent. It truly was a magical place to be, so a week simply flew by. The only minus was our own poor planning not booking for two weeks. We would certainly recommend this place to anyone, families with small children or teenagers or a group of friends. Jens and Pia, DK

We spend a really wonderful week in the "La Pierre Qui Chante". We all enjoyed the large pool and the perfect surroundings of this gem of a Provence villa.

For our family of two adults and two kids, this was our dream of a perfect vacation, that came true.

Thanks to Tony and Marjie for a very memorable holiday, and for letting us into their own little piece of heaven.
