Traditional Gite with Garden and Pool in Banyuls-sur-Mer, Pyrenees-Orientales

Mas Falgara is a traditional-style Catalan Mas dating from the 1980s, beautifully set in the foothills of the Pyrénées. The property is located around 5 km from Banyuls-sur-Mer and the Mediterranean coastline.

The Mas offers approximately 360 m² of living space on 1.6 hectares of land and is arranged over two levels, with an additional spacious basement that houses the laundry facilities. There are three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom and bathtub. Two bedrooms feature king-size beds, while the third is furnished with two single beds.

The generous open-plan kitchen and dining area is decorated in classic French provincial style and includes a traditional fireplace. The bright and airy living room enjoys views over the surrounding vineyards and Pyrénées foothills and features an oak-beamed ceiling and a mezzanine office space. The upstairs bedroom is accessed via stairs from the living room.

A wide hallway connecting the kitchen/dining area and the living room leads to two of the bedrooms and also provides access to an additional guest toilet. The courtyard next to the kitchen is equipped with a marble dining table for outdoor meals and a wood-fired barbecue, prepared in the traditional way.

Mas Falgara is family-friendly and welcomes children and babies. A high chair and cot are available for guests travelling with infants. On arrival, guests are greeted with a basket of local produce, including a bottle of Banyuls liqueur, perfect for enjoying as an aperitif.

Fresh bed linen and hand and bath towels are provided throughout your stay. The swimming pool is open from mid to late May until late September. The Mas is owned by a Danish–New Zealand couple and is locally managed by Pascale from Banyuls-sur-Mer, who personally welcomes guests and ensures everything runs smoothly.

Located in the heart of the Vermilion Coast, Banyuls-sur-Mer sits among terraced coastal vineyards and is a charming Mediterranean seaside town.
Once home to renowned sculptor Aristide Maillol, Banyuls-sur-Mer offers visitors a wide range of attractions. Its palm-lined seafront promenade is home to cafés, restaurants, bars, a marina, and sandy beaches, creating a wonderful setting for enjoying the Mediterranean lifestyle.

Additional highlights include the Thalasso Therapy Institute, numerous wine cellars, and the Arago Laboratory aquarium. Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy the many hiking paths along the coastline and through the surrounding hills.

Just 15 minutes north lies the picturesque and romantic town of Collioure, often referred to as “the City of Painters,” and well worth a visit.

The property is situated in the hills at the eastern end of the Pyrenees, where the mountains meet the sea. From here, you can enjoy views over olive groves, spruce trees, vineyards, and scattered hillside homes. The Spanish Costa Brava and the Bay of Rosas are only around 30 minutes away via the nearby mountain pass.

Banyuls-sur-Mer offers a selection of excellent restaurants and tapas bars. Local markets take place on Thursdays and Sundays, and regular bus services run to Perpignan.
