Wonderful spot for a quiet relaxing holiday; lots of wildlife - a Nightingale singing in the very large and leafy garden - a very comfortable Gite for two, easy walking from the door, a really good local restaurant, very thoughtful and generous owners on the other side of the garden. (Not intrusive but around if you need them or just want to chat) The area is unspoilt and very underdeveloped by UK standards, it's like stepping back in time.
An easy drive if you follow the instructions provided and the local roads are almost empty.
Cracking!

A wonderfully relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings. The accommodation, a sympathetic barn conversion, exceeded expectations - very spacious, clean, well appointed and set in extensive grounds. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and appreciating the flowers, feeding the hungry fish in the pond and watching the wildlife - deer came to the pond to drink in the early mornings. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, gently rolling hills, forests, farmland with little' villages - perfect cycling country. Plenty of opportunities for sight seeing. We particularly enjoyed the gardens at Apremont, the castle at Bourbon L'Archambould and the Maison Mantin in MOulins. Adrian and Shamsiah were wonderful hosts, very friendly and helpful and made us feel part of the local community

This is a perfectly delightful holiday home. The owners are exceptionally helpful. The gite is traditionally rustic but spacious and superbly equipped. Every thought has been given to comfort inside and out (where seating areas catch sun/offer shade according to your need, whatever the time of day). It's a good location for short drives to local villages, and for rambling/cycling/canoeing to really unwind.

A lovely gite in a peaceful setting with large rooms. A joy to sit out in the garden and relax. Not even irritated by distant noise of formula one cars. We spent happy days visiting local towns and villages enjoying markets, visiting romanesque churches (!) so we relied on the car a lot.

We had a fantastic time, relaxing in the grounds of the gite, enjoying the visiting wildlife and feeding the fish. The accommadation has everything you need, and if not, just ask. Adrian and Shamsiah go out of the way to help, and have a fantastic local knowledge. Overall A star.

This Gite does exactly "what is say's on the tin", this was not our first stay and it will not be our last. Peaceful, relaxing, with great host's .
Lovely rolling countryside , smell of new mown hay and uncluttered by tourists, need anything else?
Well then try the canoeing down the Allier , great way to spend a day, and stroll around Apremont afterwards , so good we did it twice.
If you need a bit of culture as well Bourges, Never and Moulins are all worth a visit but the real pleasure is the peace , quite , nature and the pace of life.

We went on holiday looking for peace and tranquility and that's exactly what we found. The gite is in a beautifully un disturbed area of rural France and it was an absolute treat to relax to the evening choir of frogs and crickets! The gite is well equipped and homely and the log fire is a great part of the evening ambience.

Adrian and Shamsiah were both attentive and gracious and the local knowledge they offered was invaluable when we were deciding on the days activities.

The pace of life, lack of traffic, clean air and sunshine helped to make this idyll a real memory maker .... So much so that we had booked for next year before we left!!!!

The house and grounds are exactly as described, comfortable, utterly peaceful (no traffic, dogs barking, church bells ringing, etc), and this is the best equipped gite we've ever stayed in. During a week of chilly evenings, we were glad of the woodburner, which is superb, and Adrian kept us generously supplied with wood. He and Shamsiah are the ideal hosts, friendly, welcoming, and with a wealth of suggestions for places to visit etc, should you need ideas.

Knowing we enjoy walking, they provided a new detailed map, with a variety of detailed books and leaflets on local walks.

We would highly recommend this gite on several counts. The gite itself is superb, wonderfully converted from part of the original barn. It is spacious and is set in wonderful grounds which are most enjoyable in themselves, in terms of the flowers, wildlife and walks. Great place to relax and watch the world go by.

The owners live in the farm house on site. They have the right balance of helpfulness, but not intrusion and have an excellent knowledge of the local area and all things Auvergne in the locale. They are truly excellent hosts.

Lastly, the area is very peaceful, idyllic rural France. The driving is probably the easiest I have experienced abroad. There is still much to see, towns, chateaux, markets, walks all within a rush hour of three cars. A must is the canoe trip, with compulsory picnic and the wonderful gardens at Apremont at the other end.

My wife and I stayed for three weeks with Adrian and Shamsiah and had a wonderful relaxed and peaceful holiday. The accommodation and location were excellent and we were well looked after by the owners. For those wanting a peaceful location with abundant walks locally this is the place!! The local restaurant recommended is definitely not to be missed as we so nearly did!
