This was an amzing place for a family reunion of 10 adults, 6 children and a dog! Acres of space both inside the house and outside in the grounds. I hadn't expected such a large area of trees and undergrowth for children to have fun in! The heated swimming pool was perfect for swimmers and non-swimmers alike, with plenty of space round the side to sit and watch. In the evening, the covers meant that swimming was still a warm, fun activity to do. The house was huge with lots of bedrooms, beds, and spaces for children to sleep. A couple of the bedrooms had single beds in with a double, which is convenient if you have young children, but worth bearing in mind if all the guests are adults [and more than about 14 of them]. All the bedrooms are large, with one huge one. Downstairs there is an enormous room that incorporates a kitchen, dining area and sitting room. Next door is a huge games room with table tennis, table football, keyboard and games for outside. The kitchen has a large oven and hob and lots of utensils [almost too many!]. Seating for about 20 people to eat indoors, but we did most of ours outside on the patio, where there was also a barbecue. Not all the crockery or glasses matched, but who cares when the food & wine is so good! If needed there is also space for a family to stay in the little house attached to the swimming pool. There is a boulangerie about 5 minutes walk away, but we got our morning croissants & baguettes from a superb bakery in the centre of Crecy-la-Chapelle, next door to a fabulous greengrocer and directly opposite the boucherie! Market day is Thursday morning. The wooden gatehouse doors mean that the whole property is completely safe and child & pet secure. Cuckoos going all day long as well. Because the property is so large, there are spaces to be quiet in, even if children are playing in the garden or games room. It felt like a large family home, with all the quirks that go with that. We loved it.
It's worth noting that there is no washing machine [presumably because the property is serviced by a septic tank], but there is a 'laverie' in Crecy-la-Chapelle that is open 7 days a week.
