Bor et Bar is a small and active commune overlooking the river Viaur
Bedrooms:
The Gîte can accommodate up to 10 people in 4 large bedrooms all with en suite shower and bath facilities.
There are double beds in all of the rooms, but additional single beds are available for use in Bedrooms 3 and 4 if preferred. Bedroom 3 now has a selection of beds(double, single and bunks) to provide flexibility for any group.
Local barns were always built on a slope, so that the animals could live on the lower floor and the hay and feedstuffs could be stored on the upper floor with easy access from the road. The Gîte is therefore an "upside down house" with all the bedrooms on the lower floor and living accommodation in the full height barn area on the first floor.
Outdoor Living
Situated just off the main barn (or just pass a glass through the window) and the long summer nights can be enjoyed on the Terrace.
The covered section allows guests to enjoy the relative shade during the afternoons.
This ideal vantage point, facing South West is the perfect place to observe the Natural World around you. Sunsets become a nightly spectacle, the night sky is huge, and the bird life just carries on around you, with Redstarts on the roof, Finches in the trees and birds of prey including the Kites (les Milans) soaring in the valley below you.
The Pool
Guests at the Gîte des Milans have exclusive access to the pool.
Outdoor Eating
In the garden situated underneath the Walnut tree and the Douglas Fir which also shade the gîte terrace, there is an outdoor eating area which is perfectly situated for lunches and barbecues in the dappled shade of the midday sun.
Petanque
New in 2022, we have built a “piste de pétanque” which is situtated in front of the main doors. Perfectly placed for a little competition while preparing an evening barbecue
Other amenities
A children's play area with a swing, slide and climbing frame is also available in the garden and there are also men's and women's mountain bikes and hybrids available for use by the more adventurous.
The Local Area:
For the wine enthusiasts, the house is well situated. We are only 30 mins from the Gaillac region and just over an hour to Cahors (the "original" Malbec). Vineyard tours and degustations abound, with recommendations available.
Only 5 minutes away, guests looking for a challenge can try out the Via Ferrata. A cabled climbing route in the Viaur valley, which finishes with a spectacular zip wire high up above the river.
Perhaps, take a trip to Najac and kayak & picnic on the Aveyron river.
Walk down into the beautiful valley of the Viaur river on well marked footpaths, and maybe take a swim when you get there.
Only a few minutes drive, there are 2 restaurants popular with locals and visitors alike. La Chataigneraie sits next to the river, and serves generous crepes to the background of live jazz. Le Relais is open all year, and is a good value quality restaurant.

The Aveyron spans from the Massif Central down to Millau and the plains bordering Toulouse in the South.
For culture and city enthusiasts, the house is within an hour of the cities of Albi and Rodez, and for the wine aficionados. We are also within an hour of the cities and wine regions of Gaillac and Cahors (French Malbec).
Najac and Cordes sur Ciel are local Bastide towns, both beautiful historic fortified towns built in the early part of the last millennium.
Our local market town is Villefranche de Rouergue, host to a Thursday morning market all year round. An essential weekly visit not only for visitors, but also local residents.
