OLIVE TREE COTTAGE - One of Two Holiday Cottages Alongside the Canal du Midi near Carcassonne, Aude

2 holiday cottages with seperate entrances and patios alongside the Canal du Midi near Carcassonne.

Set at the edge of a typical French Village surrounded by vineyards yet close to Medieval Carcassonne. Each gite is fully equipped and offers accommodation for 4 people with a double and twin bedroom. (Cot available) Fully fitted kitchen area, lounge, dining area and both gites have their own patio, BBQ and outdoor furniture.

OLIVE TREE COTTAGE:

Olive Tree Cottage has its own south facing patio for sunbathing and relaxing overlooking the garden towards the pool and the Alaric hills in the distance. Around the front of the house (which is alongside the canal) you can stroll along the towpath of the Canal du Midi and watch the boats navigate their way through the lock between the Mediteranean and the Atlantic. The gîtes are in the grounds of very friendly British owners, who will respect your privacy.

Upstairs, the gîte offers a double & a twin bedroom. All towels and bedding are provided. We can provide Beach Towels if requested to save on the luggage allowance.  There is a modern shower and washbasin (hairdryer provided).

Downstairs there is everything you need for a relaxing holiday away from home. Open plan downstairs includes a sitting room area with sofa, armchairs, LCD TV, DVD/VHS player, Radio/CD/cassette player. Dining table and chairs. Wi-Fi available. ipod / iphone docking station.  Books, DVD's, music

A kitchen offering full facilities including Induction Hob with a seperate modern oven and grill, plus and a large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. All crockery, cutlery and tea towels are provided as well as a microwave, electric toaster / kettle/ coffee maker (a cool-box is provided for excursions to help keep drinks cool).

There is also a WC and separate utility area providing a washing machine and sink with ample outside washing line for drying provided. Iron / ironing board.

Outside Olive Tree Cottage there is an extra undercover area which houses the full size outdoor table tennis table for the use of Olive Tree guests.


THE AREA:

Explore the towpaths of the Canal du Midi and walk approx 3 kilometres to the next triple lock. Wonder around The Etang de Marseillette which is a dried salt water lake and now grows vines, apples, melons and rice in it's fertile soil. Visit Trebes for lunch and dine at the Moulin de Trebes Restaurant alongside the triple lock and watch the boats sail by? There are several restaurants next to the canal to profit of the views.

Marseillette is perfectly located to explore the region. The Pyrenees are a short drive away with its varied terrain and places of interest. There are Spa towns, mountain passes, The Yellow Train and lots more. All details can be found in the gite.

The Mediterranean Sea is only 45 minutes away with many great beaches and salt lakes. Flamingos live in some of the Salt lakes next to the sea.

Virtually all the villages offer wine tasting(Degustation) in their Caves and Co-operatives. Just look out for the roadsigns.

Each gite has information packs to help you get around and see as much or as little as you want to do.

Our minimum booking is 3 days and in the summer we only accept bookings of at least 1 week with arrival and departure on a Saturday.
