Domaine de Fumel offers idyllic adult only Gîtes for two, nestled next to the charming medieval village of Issigeac in the Dordogne region of France.

Escape to this tranquil countryside retreat, perfect for couples or groups of friends seeking a relaxing holiday.

Le Sauvignon:

This cottage benefits from being dual aspect with seating areas to the front and rear.
At the eastern end of the mediaeval farmhouse this pretty cottage has a dual aspect facing North and South.

With glass doors leading to a private courtyard that overlooks the vines to the front and additional glass doors that overlook the pool to the rear, this property also benefits from the sunsets.

It has a fully equipped raised kitchen area, comfortable practical lounge and dining area with an old stone  fireplace.

Upstairs set into the roof slopes there is a charming bedroom with 1.6m bed, en-suite bathroom with w.c., bath with shower attachment and wash-basin.

The Exterior
The 14m x 7m swimming pool has a deep end of 2.2m and a shallow end of 0.9m with roman steps. It is near the edge of a gentle grass slope and benefits from pastoral views and inspiring sunsets. Plenty of sun beds are provided around the pool, which is diligently covered every night to retain the gain from the solar heating.
For your enjoyment, we have added a spa whirlpool pool at the end of the swimming pool terrace, which is also diligently covered every night to retain the solar gain in temperature.
For your further enjoyment, we have also created a giant chess set.

The surrounding gardens are mostly laid to lawn with several trees for shade. Some are cherries which you can help yourselves to in June, also we have figs, walnuts and grapes which are ready in September. We also have three ponds, stocked with goldfish greedy for your stale bread. A word of warning - from April until June the frogs croak happily, they can be quite noisy!

Each property has its own private courtyard area with a table and chairs provided for four people so you can share a barbecue, apertifs  or a meal with your neighbours. Also for each house is a gas BBQ, sun beds and a set of boules for those of you with a competitive edge (or the energy).

Our land is designated a "Reserve de repeuplement" by the local Chasse which means there is no hunting allowed on it and it has therefore become a refuge for all the local wildlife. Golden Oriels and nightingales enchant us in spring and early summer; buzzards, owls, bats and hawks entertain us all summer and autumn. Because of a careful policy on pesticides with farming and vines, our land benefits from wild orchids and fritillaries in early summer.

If the tranquil surroundings still leave just a touch more "détente" needed (or the strenuous task of relaxing, swimming or boules causes aching muscles), then why not book Katie, a fully qualified Remedial Therapist, to give you a deep relaxing massage.

Golf is available at three different courses all within 30 minutes drive. There is a choice of lakes within 20 minutes drive, offering wind surfing, fishing and swimming. An absolute must is canoeing, with swimming & fishing on the beautiful Dordogne river.
There is a riding stable close by at Boisse with horse-drawn painted wagons for hire by the day and stables north of Bergerac with organised night rides through the woodlands.

Balloon flights from Duras and microlight flights from Cavarc, whilst at Issigeac, bicycles can be hired by the day and two tennis courts are available by the hour to start the day off properly!!
