Situated in the small, tranquil village of St Jean de la Blaqiuere, Villa Katherine is a delightful, privately owned, modern Villa / Gite with it's own private swimming pool and garden. Backing onto fields & vineyards, the villa offers spectacular views of the magnificent hills, valleys and countryside of L'Herault.
THE VILLA:
Three bedrooms, two doubles, one with en-suite and one twin bedded room with travel cot/playpen and house bathroom. Kitchen has dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave and cooker. Bathroom has washbasin, bidet, bath/shower and WC. There is also a separate WC. There is a spacious lounge/dining area with satellite UK. TV/DVD and CD.
A shady terrace overlooks the private pool, patio and mature gardens, making this an ideal base to explore the Herault valley with the tranquility of life in a rural village. Thirty-five minutes from Mediterranean beaches with good access to the A75 autoroute and ten kilometres from Lac Salagou with it's many watersports. BBQ, water and electricity is included. Linen can also be included at extra cost.
The villa is a short walk from the peaceful village centre, which has an old-fashioned Boulangerie and a small bar / cafe. It is approximately 15-20 minutes from the towns of Lodeve and Clermont L'Herault where there are plenty of shops, local markets, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets.

Wine Tasting:
The area is very famous for it's wine production under AOPs Coteaux de Languedoc & Terraces du Larzac. There are many local Vignerons offering Degustation & Vente Direct and all have very friendly and helpful owners. Some of our Favouries are Domaine Jordy, St. Saturnin de Lucian, Chateau Vaillle & Chateau Jonquieres. Pinet is about 30 mins away which is famous for it's very trendy Picpoul de Pinet
Cultural Sites:
Nearby, the ancient village of St. Guilhem le Desert and Prieure de St-Michel-le-Grandmot are both well worth a visit. The medieval town of Carcasonne is not far and the Camargue is reachable by car with its famous landscapes, wild horses & flamingoes. There are lots of caves & gorges at Los Gorges d'Heric, Grotte de Clamouse, Cirque de Moureze and Cirque to Navacelles

The towns of Clermont L'Herault and Lodeve are both a short drive away. Lodeve is situated on the L'Herault River and is characterised by its C13th Cathedrale St. Fulcran. It has an Arty vibe with Cafes and Salles de The. Clarmont L'Herault has a very animated atmosphere with Shops, Cafes and the Castle. Both have large markets where you can buy the best in local produce whilst enjoying the genuine French atmosphere.
Leisure Activities:
Lac Salagou is ten minutes by car offering a 750 hectare lake with many watersports including windsurfing and boating. Around the lake there are various picnic areas and a small beach area. In the summer the water famously regularly reaches 28C!
There is a popular Water Park at Cap D'Agde with lots more leisure activites. Boat trips and fishing trips can be organised from most of the seaside locations. At St Guilhem le Desert you can also canoe the Gorges de L'Herault
Beaches:
The nearest beach is 40km away and there is a great choice along a 14km stretch of beach coastline. Valras Plage, Vias Plage and lively and clean, Frontignan Plage & Marseillan Plage are remote, safe and quiet. La Tammarissiere & Grau D'Agde are personal favourites with good eateries and very clean & safe beaches. Cap D'Agde & Sete are busy harbour towns which are very typical and fishing villages around the Etang de Thau, like Bouzigues & Meze, have some amazing fish restaurants.
Walking & Cycling:
The centre of St Jean de la Blaquiere is just a short walk from the Villa. The village is very typical, extremely peaceful & picturesque and lovely to walk around. The river flows past the villa & through the village and there is a Cafe for food & refreshements. There is also a circular 6km signposted walk around the village. The villa is situated on 'Route de Causses et Vallees de L'Herault' , a popular, signposted tourist route, along which are breathtaking views of the L'Herault hills by foot, bike or car!
