Fabulous cottage in the nicest area in France

Our second stay in this wonderful cottage. Everything is to hand and the cottage is well equipped, the pool is perfect particularly on yet another hot sunny day and Steve and Moira are extremely hospitable and full of ideas of where to go. The area is ideal - quietly situated in amongst the vines and the sunflowers yet the coast is within an hours drive so lots of choices of what to do if you can tear yourself away from the cottage and pool. We would certainly recommend Chez Rivieres as a great relaxing place to stay and look forward to returning again one day

Simply the best

We have just returned from the perfect family holiday at this delightful, well appointed and well equipped cottage in the heart (and peacefulness) of the French countryside. Fantastic pool, luxurious hot tub and views to die for. Nothing is too much trouble for hosts Steve and Moira. All in all, the right ingredients for a great holiday. We've never considered returning to a gite before...until now...like many before us, we'll be back.

Wonderful Holiday Cottage
We have just returned from a fantastic two weeks in August. The cottage is located in a small hamlet surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers, its ideal for our young boys with an immaculate pool and plenty of grounds for them to let off steam. The cottage itself is of good size with three large bedrooms, very well maintained and full of everything you could ask for. Steve & Moira were excellent hosts, always welcoming and friendly, they kept us supplied with their wonderful home grown produce. Their extremely well behaved Labrador, Ollie became a firm favourite with the boys. The cottage is situated between the market towns of St Jean D’Angely and Saintes, an hours drive will get you to the coastal resorts of Royan (wonderful beaches and excellent zoo at La Palmyre) La Rochelle (world class Aquarium) and Ile de Re (ideal of cycling). We found plenty to keep us occupied for the two weeks at this wonderful property in a lovely part of France. We look forward to returning in the future

Charming, peaceful and comfortable

We spent a very enjoyable week with our three young children in this beautifully refurbished and comfortable cottage; this property delivers everything the description claims. The hosts Steve and Moira are friendly, considerate and generous, and, their pet labrador Ollie is gentle and brilliant with young children. If your idea of a holiday is to relax and spend time surrounded by beautiful countryside with access to a heated pool you won’t be disappointed. Be good to yourself, vivez le reve a la francaise!

Fabulous place to stay

Just returned after a weeks break with another couple and their two small children and this was a great place to stay. Moira and Steve were very welcoming and full of advice on where to go and what to see. We all became quite attached to Ollie the black labrador who we adopted during our stay! We enjoyed several barbecues in the garden, watched the sunset on the roof terrace and relaxed in the hot tub. The pool was great for small children nice and warm with lots of toys they could use (balls, bats, pool noodles etc.). There was a selection of bikes we could use to explore the surrounding areas as well as good walking routes. Overall this is a great place to stay which I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

We had the most fabulous holiday. Would take all day to write down how many beautiful places we visited. The villa is in a perfect situation. It was as comfortable as it was beautiful. Loved having our own pool and hot tub. As for Steve, Moira and Ollie (the dog) Coley; they were brilliant hosts. So warm and friendly. Had some lovely evenings in their company. As for Ollie, he greeted us every morning and would meet us at the gate every time we went out. Miss them all very much. And would absolutely go again :)))

Wonderful holiday cottage

What a fantastic holiday cottage and facilities.

We loved our stay here and were made to feel very welcome....We made good use of the lovely pool (immaculate & good temperature), hot tub (huge and very indulgent!), vast garden space (fantastic for our little ones as secure & safe - lots of space to explore and run around in), we loved the hammock and our 3 year old loved the swing!

The views during the day are beautiful - you just see feilds for as far as the eye can see and we enjoyed watching the stars from the roof terrace at night including a shooting star and Mars which was a treat :)

About the accomodation - beds are really comfy which is so important to me if you are to relax and enjoy your stay! The property was immaculate and very homely. The kitchen contains everything and anything you might need including a microwave good size Fridge/freezer with another in the barn should you need it!

If you are after a relaxing holiday with home from home facilities in a beautiful location then this is it. Steve and Moira are lovely hosts and we were made to feel like family staying next door which was so lovely. We were even treated to Moira's home made scones on a rainy day which were delicious!

Until now I had not found a property in France I would like to return to, we will definitely be returning again here in the future.

Chez Rivieres

Just returned from our 3rd visit to this lovely Gite in the beautiful Charente countryside. Here you are really well placed to visit the many historic towns like Saintes, Cognac, St Jean d'Angely and even Angouleme is only an hour's drive away. The Gite is wonderful, clean and comfortable and Steve and Moira are the perfect hosts. On hand if you have any questions but giving you privacy if that's what you prefer. You can walk or cycle for miles on the chemins criss-crossing the vines and sunflower fields, but best of all is enjoying the garden and relaxing by the pool. We can't recommend this Gite highly enough and Steve and Moira and Ollie the labrador will make you very welcome.

Fabulous relaxing holiday in a beautiful cottage. Only problem was it was over too quickly. Loads to do, or if you just want a relaxing time by the pool, this is the place to go.
