The Grottes du Périgord gîte is undoubtedly the oldest part of the Charterhouse, the name given here to these simple but imposing and elegant manors which take up the plans of the Château de Cheverny, the grand staircase of honor. and the roof gables less. It has the particularity of having a large vaulted cellar which dates back to the 14th century, when there was a mill on this site. This charterhouse was built by the doctor of Domme, a certain Jean-Pierre Grézis, in full social ascension in 1758, the date of construction, since this allowed him to be called Lord of the Alburague (La Burague, locality where we are), which caused him some trouble during the French Revolution.
On the ground floor, you enter directly into the fully equipped kitchen / dining room (electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer, deep fryer, mixer, kettle, grill -bread, classic coffee maker and Nespresso machine, Sodastream) with inglenook fireplace - the name given here to these large fireplaces in which you can stand - where we have placed a large Canadian stove. All the paving of the ground floor is in terracotta tiles.

At the end, the Rouffignac bedroom offers a 140 cm bed in a sort of alcove, a wardrobe, a desk, 2 chairs. It is the only one that does not have its own en-suite bathroom.
