Les Bernots is a tiny hamlet in the Aude department, Languedoc Roussillon, deep in rural south-western France. Our four beautiful holiday gites are just a short drive from Carcassonne and ideally located for year-round holidays, with winter ski resorts and a summer Mediterranean climate. All the properties have been extensively refurbished to bring them up to modern standards, yet they retain many of their the original features, some of which are reputed to date back to Roman times.
La Maison de Chauve-Souris:
A large property, which sleeps 12 people, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Kitchen and dining area with extending table and 10 chairs, 2 fridges, cooker and dishwasher. Lounge with 2 settees, 4 chairs and a wood burning stove, includes a TV only for use with DVD player, plus a CD player. Bedroom 4 with 2 double beds and 1 single bed, single wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables. Bedroom 3 with 1 double bed, wardrobe, dressing table and bedside table. Bedroom 2 with 1 double bed, 1 single bed, wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables. Bedroom 1 with 1 double bed, wardrobe and bedside tables. Bathrooms both with shower, WC and vanity unit. A little way down the street is a patio area with barbecue, sink unit and table and 10 chairs for the exclusive use of Bat Mouses. Heating is by electric heaters and bottled gas is used for cooking.

Local Attractions
Perpignan is the closest beach, about 1h and 30 minutes driv. However, there are various other beautiful beaches to visit like Canet-Plage.
The nearest villages are a 10-15 minute walk with the closest towns, Esperaza and Quillan being a 10-15 minute drive. Be sure to expore the many great restaurants, cafes and bars around this area, and all your grocery needs can be found in shops in Esperaza with a local market also there every Sunday.
The intermarche is a 10 minute drive away just out of Esperaza.
The nearest swimming lake is a 10 minute drive in Puivert, however there are a number of beautiful swimming lakes and pools not far from Les Bernots.
Carcassonne Castle is an amazing place to visit, just a 30-40 minute drive away. However there are many other castles and historical points of interest closer by like Rennes-le-Chateau, made famous by the Da Vinci Code.
Special Rental Conditions
A fully refundable security deposit is requested prior to arrival to cover any damages or breakages to the property. Security deposits for each house differ and will be given after enquiry.
Unless otherwise agreed, please arrange to vacate the property by 11.00 am on the date of departure, to allow cleaning before the next arrival. Arrivals will be from 2.30pm, however earlier times may be available if the property has been vacant.
