Stunning farmhouse available for holiday let in rural Normandy
La Germainiere sleeps up to 12 people, has a private heated swimming pool and is located just minutes from a quaint French village
La Germainiere is a lovely old farmhouse that has been completely renovated to create a beautiful holiday house with enormous character. The house is spread over three floors, and is extremely well-furnished and equipped for 12 people. Lovely gardens surround the house, and there is plenty of garden furniture allowing you to fully enjoy the outdoors during your holiday. There are stunning views over the peaceful Normandy countryside: just rolling fields and trees – total peace!
The magnificent 10m x 5m private heated swimming pool is a perfect place to sunbathe or swim, and is peacefully set on the sheltered lower lawn. You can relax on the huge south-facing terrace and enjoy the tranquility of the wooded valley below. Sunloungers and poolside furniture are provided, and there is a large, pretty timber chalet situated next to the pool.
For peace of mind, the pool is security fenced with a gate that can only be opened by an adult. There is a further gate that can be locked if there are young children present. Open from May to the end of October, use of the swimming pool is exclusive to La Germainiere.
Ground Floor
Entrance hall with cloakroom and WC. Large beamed drawing room with exposed stone walls and huge Normandy fireplace. Beamed dining room with table for 12.
Very well equipped kitchen with gas/elec cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. The breakfast area with its circular oak table has French doors onto the south-facing terrace. Utillity room with washing machine, tumble-drier and sink.
There is a shady, vine-covered dining area outside.
First Floor
Master bedroom with king sized bed and ensuite shower room.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed, and Bedroom 3 has twin beds. All bedrooms are south-facing with lovely views over the gardens and fields beyond. There is a large family bathroom on this floor with a bath and overbath shower.
The bedrooms are on the two upper floors and are all attractively decorated and furnished.
Second Floor
There are three more bedrooms on this floor: Bedroom 4 is a large twin-bedded room, and bedrooms 5 and 6 are also twin rooms.
This floor also has its own shower room and WC.
Notes for guests with children
The pool is fully security fenced as mentioned above for safety. On the first floor there is a large oak door that can close across the passage to Bedroom 2, which can be used as a stair gate for young children. On the top floor there is a stair gate across the stairs. We are happy to provide high chairs and cots for babies and infants but would prefer that guests bring their own cot linen. Children are welcome to play play football, badminton and other bat and ball games on the lawn at the side of the house and we also have a set of boules.

Located only 15 minutes to pristine, sandy beaches. The farmhouse is set in a quiet area surrounded by fields and farmland, but there are plenty of nearby villages and towns catering for all your usual holiday needs.
Hambye is just 6km away and is a typically French village, with 2 bakeries, a butchers, post office, supermarket, hardware store and bar/restaurant. Tuesday is market day. Gavray is also nearby (7km) and is a lovely little market town with banks, shops, bars and restaurants. Saturday is pannier market day and Wednesday hosts the calf market, which is great fun for all the family. Villedieu les Poeles (15km) Coutances has a beautiful cathedral, lots of shops, restaurants and cafes, plus market day on Thursdays.
Within easy reach of the house are the world famous Mont St Michel and the medieval town of Bayeux, with its ancient tapestry depicting the battle of Hastings. To the northeast are the historic World War II D-Day beaches of the Normandy landings: Gold, Omaha, Sword and Utah, not to mention the fascinating war museums at Arromanche, Caen etc.
