Wow! This really is a special place. My husband and I stayed at the Blavet River Cottage for two weeks from the 23rd of June up to the 7th of July 2018. It was a home from home with all the amenities we could have possibly needed. If your a family group with young children, teenagers or perhaps a couple of old fogies’ like my husband and I are there is plenty to do here with the games room, heated swimming pool, summer house, bikes, fishing and kayaks (your own Jetty) and if that wasn’t enough your are within a short walk of one of the most delightful and picturesque villages in the whole of Brittany, the village of Saint Nicolas des Eaux. This village has three restaurants, bars and check out the Statue, fountain of the Avatar woman it’s incredible. The Cottage is distinctly separate from the owner’s property for those of you who like exclusivity however your hosts Richard and Diana are extremely welcoming and on hand if you need them. You are in an excellent position in which to tour Brittany and NO TOILS! When we were there it was very hot indeed so enjoy!

If you want to have a chill and peaceful holiday by the river, Blavet river cottage is the place to be. after unloading our vehicle and settling in we had a walk around the grounds with our dog and could not believe how much space you have when renting this cottage.

Everything has been well thought out, a large barn with table tennis snooker darts pool table bikes kayaks fishing rods dinghy summerhouse pool and more.

We have a bull terrier that needs loads of walks so if you have a dog you can walk for miles and miles along the river bank.

The cottage was nice and clean with character and again we could not fault, there was some cakes milk wine and sweets waiting for us when we arrived which was nice.

This is the second time we have stayed in St Nicolas and the first time at this cottage and we will book this cottage again. There is loads to do if you want to have days out we went to Auray and had the best ever pizza and chips for the second year running.

If the ratings on this review would let me I would give higher marks than 10 on all the categories.

I will finish by saying in all the years we have been coming to France for a holiday, we have found our gem to stay at in the future,

We had a lovely time at this cottage.
The setting was superb with an easy walk to the bars, restaurants and local shop.
The cottage and the barn had plenty of games and toys to keep the children occupied.
It was lovely to use the kayaks to paddle down to the village of St Nicolas and beyond.
We also used the bikes and went along the path the other side of the river and stopped at a restaurant a few miles down by a lock.
We spent time enjoying the views in the garden whilst the children played around in the pool.
We would certainly recommend the Blavet river cottage.
Thanks

We were 4 adults and a 12 year old, there was plenty of room in the cottage and it was equipped to an excellent standard. The outside space was lovely, the barn opposite had a pool table, snooker table, ping pong table, 6 bikes (and helmets), badminton and dart board. The pool was lovely, we used it almost everyday, so nice to have a private pool. The holiday was fantastic, the village was walkable via a path through the woods, it took about 10 minutes. The Cafe bar in the village hires out bikes and boats, which we used twice, Well worth a trip down the river. We could not fault our stay in the cottage, Richard and Diana were very welcoming and lovely people, we even got to meet Buzz the dog, We would def return.

Blavet River Cottage is very comfortable and well equipped both internally and externally. There are bikes, kayaks, fishing rods, table tennis and a small heated swimming pool, plus a summer house for visitors to use as well as a huge private garden. The cottage is less than 10 minutes walk from St Nicolas des Eaux, which has nice eating places and bars - and even a tourist information office (but no bakery unfortunately). There are also some good walks around the village and access to the Blavet River towpath, which is great for cycling in either direction. Lots of interesting places to see which are within a reasonable drive - including Pontivy, Vannes, Josselin, Auray and Carnac. We were blessed with excellent weather, so it was lovely to blend sightseeing with pottering around the village and its environs and just enjoying the situation of the cottage and the view of the river banks.

Good contact with the owners, Richard and Diana, before the holiday and a lovely welcome with local products and suggestions for places to visit and information about the visit on arrival.

We had a lovely holiday - I was very sorry to leave and would be happy to return - and can thoroughly recommend the cottage to others.

Thank you to Richard and Diana for their hospitality.
