THE CHÂTEAU

Set within the peaceful countryside of the Aude region, Château Saint-Joseph is an elegant historic estate dating back to 1879, combining grand architectural heritage with the charm of a romantic rural retreat. Surrounded by rolling greenery and private grounds, the château offers a refined setting for holidays, celebrations, weddings and exclusive events.

Built in a classic L-shaped design, the estate blends beautiful Haussmann-inspired architecture with warm and welcoming interiors. Constructed from pink stone and topped with slate roofs and dormer windows, the château immediately captures the timeless elegance of a bygone era.

Inside the main residence, guests discover magnificent reception spaces with soaring 3.6-metre ceilings, intricate mouldings, original herringbone parquet flooring and sparkling crystal chandeliers. Formal lounges and dining rooms create an atmosphere of understated luxury, ideal for entertaining or relaxing with family and friends.

One of the château’s most striking features is the impressive orangery, located within the large tower wing. This beautiful 87m² reception room features a dramatic black-and-white chequered floor, a vast glass roof dating from the early 1900s, exposed decorative beams and a magnificent red marble fireplace.

Above the orangery is an elegant bridal suite, while the upper floor beneath the remarkable timber framework houses a private state-of-the-art cinema room.

Beside the tower stands the château’s enchanting chapel, built in 1890. Covered in Virginia creeper that transforms colour with the seasons, it provides a uniquely romantic backdrop throughout the year. A graceful white gazebo sits proudly in front of the château, adding further charm to the grounds.

The château wing also contains a spacious 93m² reception hall with solid oak parquet flooring, high ceilings and six crystal chandeliers, ideal for celebrations and gatherings.

Three beautiful guest accommodations are located within the estate:

• Gîte Ste Elisabeth – a spacious 172m² apartment with six bedrooms, ideal for large families or groups of friends.
• Gîte Ste Philomène – a comfortable ground-floor cottage with three bedrooms and direct garden access.
• The Augustin Room – an elegant garden-level suite with private entrance and easy access, ideal for grandparents or guests seeking ground-floor accommodation.

In total, the estate extends across more than 32 hectares of adjoining private land, reserved exclusively for guests.

THE COTTAGES

Nestled within the peaceful grounds of Château Saint-Joseph, the estate’s three beautifully renovated cottages provide stylish and comfortable accommodation in a tranquil countryside setting.

Fully refurbished in 2021, the cottages combine rustic charm with modern comfort. Original exposed beams, soft pastel tones and minimalist interiors create a calming atmosphere designed for relaxation and quality time together.

Each cottage has been awarded a 4-star classification and is fully equipped for family holidays and group stays. Facilities include fitted kitchens with induction hobs, dishwashers, Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions with Netflix and Prime Video access, and a selection of board games and DVDs available on request.

Gîte Ste Elisabeth – 4* (Sleeps 15)

The largest of the cottages, Gîte Ste Elisabeth offers 172m² of accommodation for up to 15 guests. Located on the first floor of the château wing, it overlooks the parkland and private woodland.

BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE

At Château Saint-Joseph, breakfast is treated as part of the overall château experience. Served either outdoors or in the elegant dining room with authentic Limoges porcelain, each morning begins with carefully selected regional and homemade products.

Fresh bread is baked on-site using organic flour or sourced from a respected local artisan baker. Homemade jams are prepared using fruit and herbs grown within the château gardens, while premium Dammann Frères teas, organic freshly ground coffee and rich Valrhona hot chocolate complete the experience.

Guests can also enjoy fresh eggs from the château grounds and homemade treats such as waffles, pancakes or crêpes prepared according to the chef’s inspiration.
