Mont Joie is a charming 15th Century stone property located in the heart of the village of Beynac. This superb 3 bedroom holiday villa is positioned midway up the hill to the chataeau with the village houses positioned below. Beynac listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The chateau provides guests with privacy and stunning views of the magnificent Dordogne river and the Valley of the Five Chateaux.
The house is set on three floors.
The front door opens directly from the cobblestone streets, just steps from our private and unique parking grotte, into the main room of approximately 60 sq. meters. Honey-colored stone walls, stone tile floor, ancient wooden beams, and a huge medieval fireplace set the tone for this main floor.
The fully equipped kitchen boasts a granite countered cooking area which is built into one of the old fireplaces. Antique carpets and leather seating provides a comfortable seating area ideal for relaxing, listening to music, or viewing English satellite TV on the 48-inch curved panel television. The large dining table seats 6 and from the window, the views of the river are quite beautiful. Enjoy the sunset and the colorful Montgolfiers (hot air balloons) drifting by at dawn and in the evenings.
Outside, the lovely private garden boasts 2 flagstoned terraces - one with a grape and wisteria arbor for a shaded sitting area and a few steps down, the lower terrace with a private swimming pool (Open May-Oct 31). Wonderful views of the river from both terraces and views of the Chateaux of Fayrac, Castelnaud, Lacosse, and Marqueyssac. Eat, drink and be merry. Mont Joie is truly a destination. Many of our returning guests plan their whole vacation around staying here so pack your bags and experience the true French joie de vivre.
