Luxury self catering holiday gite rental with pool:
La Roussille is home to 3 properties, a converted farmhouse which we call home, and 2 large recently renovated luxury holiday cottages ( gites ) which are fully equipped and furnished to a very high standard.
All our rooms are individually designed for comfort with a hint of something special.

Oak Barn (sleeping 6 with 3 bathrooms, 2 of which are en-suite) and;
Walnut Barn (sleeping 4 with 1 family luxury bathroom)

Large (10m x 5m) shared swimming pool open from June to the end of September (weather permitting) for our guests to enjoy, with sun loungers and seating areas positioned with beautiful views across the valley.
The accommodation typifies the architectural charm of the region being constructed of local honey coloured stone with oak timber work. The renovation of the two barns has been carried out to a very high standard, mixing traditional building materials and contemporary design, whilst remaining sympathetic to the origins of the former farm buildings, resulting in accommodation full of charm whilst delivering all the conveniences that modern life requires.

Our location in the Dordogne:
We are located close to the village of Saint Sulpice d'Excideuil and close to the town of Excideuil, in the beautiful Perigord Vert countryside in the north east of the Dordogne. This former walnut farm is nestled in a lush valley in one of the most beautiful parts of France. The property is very private, approached by a long private track bordered by 13 acres of woodland and open fields, with idyllic open countryside views across the valley.

Although there is a sense of peace and solitude, the town of Excideuil is only a ten minute drive away which has supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, a weekly market, bank, butchers and bakers as well as the beautiful 12th Century Chateau d’Excideuil.

Things to do:
Guests have access to gardens and meadows where you will witness an abundance of wildlife as well as grazing cattle. There is plenty of space for children to explore and play, and the woodland is home to a range of magnificent mature trees. La Roussille is perfect for those wanting some ‘me time’ where you can relax in the gardens, or by the pool, or take a stroll or bike ride through the woods. If bird watching or star gazing is your thing, you won't be disappointed. The wildlife and clear night skies are truly amazing. The sunsets and sunrises are also spectacular.

There are plenty of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep as well as other leisure activities all within easy reach including leisure lakes, canoeing, caves, golf, and markets. Bike hire is available in Excideuil. Our location is ideal for visiting Thiviers, Perigueux, Bergerac, Limoges, Brantome and Sarlat la Caneda and many other beautiful Dordogne villages. Indeed you are ideally placed to discover all parts of the beautiful department of the Dordogne and the surrounding areas.

How to get here:
Our location allows easy access by road, rail or air. We are situated an hour’s drive from two regional airports (Limoges and Brive) and 90 minutes from Bergerac Airport. Additionally we are a two hour drive from the international airport at Bordeaux. There are good local road connections linking us to the French motorway network as well as high speed rail links into Limoges from all major cities.

We hope to see you soon!

Local Attractions

Excideuil
Excideuil is a charming town with an attractive town square, and a castle dating back to the 12th century. It is in the northern part of the Dordogne department, about 30 kilometres south of Jumilhac and 15 kilometres from Hautefort.

Brantome
Brantome is a very beautiful and interesting town sometimes known as the Venice of the Dordogne. The town has a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire and is classed as one of 'les Plux Beaux Detours' in France.

Montignac
This very pretty village on the Vézère River is most famous for being home to the Lascaux Caves. However as well as visiting the caves, Montignac is also well worth a visit.

Bergerac
Bergerac sits on the banks of the Dordogne River. It is among the largest towns in the region and is classified as a town of Art and History. The ‘old town’ has some lovely streets and squares to explore, and a variety of boutique type shops. The Place Pelissiere is a lovely square edged with cafes and restaurants and always full of flowers.

Perigueux
The 'capital' of the Dordogne department. Perigueux sits of the banks of the Isle River. Of the large towns in the region this is one of our favourites. The architecture is amazing and the setting is wonderful. If you want a great day out in a town with a buzz Perigueux is the place to go, morning, noon or night. There are countless shops, bars and restaurants to choose from, a great day will be had by all.

Sarlat
Sarlat is possibly the most famous town in the region and one of the most renowned and visited in France. Architecturally it is quite simply staggering.

Beynac et Cazenac
The pretty village of Beynac spreads along the northern bank of the Dordogne river, and up the hill behind, reaching the castle that stands poised above the village and river.

La Roque Gageac
La Roque Gageac is one of France's most beautiful villages. In a stunning position on the north bank of the Dordogne River, and backed by a steep hills and cliffs, with little to suggest that much has changed there in the last 300 years. La Roque-Gageac is truly the perfect picture postcard village. Boat trips available.
