Winter Months:
Le Praz Courchevel is a traditional rustic alpine village surrounded by the magical landscapes of the three valleys, the largest ski area in the world. Views over the lake, dominated by the 1992 Olympic ski jump, make it one of the most iconic panoramas in the Alps. The charming village offers many shops, local bars, bakeries and restaurants and is home to Le Bistrot du Praz and Les Peupliers, two of the most desirable restaurants in Le Praz. Its nightlife is more laid-back in comparison to the flashy Courchevel 1850, making it the perfect resort for children and families less enticed by the ritz and glitz. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere and some live music make sure you head to L’Elephant bar, only a short walk from the Chalet.
Courchevel is fortunate enough to have a high altitude and north-facing slopes allowing great skiing conditions throughout the winter months. Le Praz has become extremely popular with cross country and Alpine skiers at all levels, but also offers many tree lined black runs for those looking for a challenge, or wanting to appreciate the beautiful views Courchevel has to offer. For non-skiers there is still a huge amount to do such as hiking, ice skating, both local and high-end shopping and if you fancy looking at Courchevel from a different perspective you can take off to the skies for a unique paragliding experience.
Recently opened, Aquamotion offers a range of sport and fitness facilities such as indoor surfing, wall climbing and a fitness centre. If you prefer to relax you can enjoy spending time in their Spa.
Summer Months:
Le Praz is the main hive of activity in Courchevel in the summer months, the action certainly doesn’t stop once the season is over.
It turns into a haven for those who enjoy outdoor activities and fitness. Set off into the valleys by foot or bike to explore the trails and forests of Courchevel. Take advantage of the lifts, which are open throughout the summer, allowing you to range far and wide. At the base, the lake becomes a hub for water sports such as water skiing and wakeboarding or, for something a little different, head to the Olympic ski jump for some tobogganing. Be sure to bring your tennis racket and golf clubs - there is an exciting 9-hole course in Courchevel and a longer 18 holes in Meribel.
Courchevel hosts many annual events in the summer. These include music festivals, fireworks, a variety of sport races and even a Horse shows. Don’t miss the Redbull 400 mountain running, one of the toughest races you'll ever witness or the infamous Tour de france!
